Potions are random and the only way to know what they do is to drink them, or identify them. I think the z key is to rest, but things will still move around.

A question about brogue speak

Hi.I am trying to play brogue speak again and beat this game, but I am missing some informations.How I can check what is around me on each direction.For now I am using x key which auto explores a map.How I can check my health or how strong I am.I know that strenght can be improved by equipment or maybe potions.How I can rest.I see that I can enchant somethink like weapons, but I dont understand what it gives to the equipment.I dont understand how potions works.I see thatthere is for example a green potion f and green potion e, siren potion i or siren potion e etc.I see that we dont know, what these potions are doing.Some gives me a strenght or life but some has a poison gas, and I am dying when I am filling this.I dont understand how potions are working, is it ramdom, or maybe I have to learn how some potions are working.

Awesome to hear you playing a great roguelike game :smile: you might be interested in trying and playing more roguelikes (though with a bit slower screen reader navigation due to complexity of these) on Windows such as Nethack and it's variant - Slashem, ADOM, Angband, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (this one is very accessible) and via Linux virtual machine/dual boot or Linux itself - Cataclysm Dark Days AheadReally happy to see members of this community playing roguelikes, considering how awesome this genre is, BrogueSpeak and Brogue especially is amazing as well :smile:

You can go back to the spot where you picked the item up and drop it from your inventory, the cages will rise again.As far as I know gold is only for tracking your score.

Have you fully explored the level? There may be a switch or pressure plate which you need to engage to lower the iron cages.Alternatively, the key may be in a room with multiple objects, in which case you usually can only pick one -- you'll have to choose between an item or the key.

I dont know that htis is a secret rom, but I have had tree items to pick up one plate armor, one key and somethink yet, propably I have picked somethink before so propably this is a reason why I can not pic up a key which propably is required to open next door, so I have start playing again.Another question I have about this game.Why I am picking gold, is it any shop here.Also is it any way to check how many health I have?

Is that in one of the secret rooms, where you have to pick from a few items? When you pick one up, cages lower on the other items. You can only keep one of those.
