Hello.@20 No, the manjaro installer isn't accessible, nor orca isn't included in the live image.I started my linux adventure about 2 years ago and i already started when sonar was kinda death, but this year i got in to arch more so i started missing sonar.Manjaro talking is my creation and its actually not designed to work with the gui installer, instead you have to use the manjaro architect installer. When using manjaro architect, use orca's flat review to see where the item is and then arrow down the coresponding amount of times, press the first letter of an item, or hit the number it coresponds to.After installation, make sure to chroot in to your manjaro install and do "pacman -S orca espeak-ng& enable speech-dispatcherd"

It's linux, and the beauty of it is customizing like this. However this project does not impress me by much, I do miss the sonar linux project, mainly because the developers also helped making other tools and packages accessible by contacting other developers and raising awareness.Since then though i've moved to Manjaro and my work laptop that runs linux has been running Manjaro for years now. Once you see  Arch linux's simplicity it is hard to turn away from it.I hope the best for this project and i hope it reaches to a point where i could recommend it over anything else to blind users who'd like to try running linux on their machines.

To be honest, I spent a year podcasting with linux distros only abandoning it all after new vmware install clobbered keyboard input and I had to restore and then delete vmware.Maybe I just can't use enhanced board anymore but I am not taking the risk. From all my fucking about with linux, a distro like this doesn't interest me especially if updates are disabled and you have to go through weird patchers. The most accessible ubuntu mate spin I have found is mint linux. It does use a lot of the older classic interfaces. To be honest I have yet to get any desktop other than mate started.

Not just what 4 said but they disable automatic updates. I don't like that one bit. On Linux I actually prefer automatic updates because I know that its not going to reboot my computer in the middle of a task -- it'll just annoy me about it, and that's only if a new kernel is installed or systemd/grub/... gets updated. Plus, I doubt they use the ubiquity installer, making any advancements that Ubuntu adds (like ZFS on root or active directory support)impossible to get when installing the system. Maybe they do though, might be wrong. As for using coco-patcher? That's... messed up. That's an ad-hoc way of getting system updates to you and I definitely don't like it. Excellent way to piss apt off.

Re: Accessible Coconut News

Meh. The thing is, I don't plan to be locked into a blindie distro that I can't even update without it breaking things. Instead of creating a distro that can easily be broken, why not instead write articles about how to improve accessibility in whichever distro you're on. Even if they only do it for Ubuntu, still, that knowledge would benefit us all, rather than just saying, hey, here's a distro, now don't touch it.That rather flagrantly flies in the face of the spirit of what Linux is about. Generally, if you want stability, or to learn how things are done, you run linux. If you want most of the leg work taken up for you, you either use windows or apple.

Re: Accessible Coconut News

Just because a distro is on DW doesn't mean jack. I already said this to Naelyn, but he needs to get people who review Linux distros to lok at AC. It's an Ubuntu spin with accessibility features. Is that a bad thing? Not realy...mostly since it's based on UbuntuBUTLook through all the changes they've made and the software they bundle with it however. Disabling automatic updates caught my eye. There's a lot of software I personaly don't use in there really. I tried ACC 18.04.whatever, and 20.04 in a VM...but to me there's not enough reasons to switch from Ubuntu Mate really. Given that doesn't AC use a spin of the Gnome desktop so it's more resource hungry vs Mate?
