Re: Accessible texting from laptop

No, I'm sure no deal was made. If it only lets you se texts that were made while the phone and pc are connected via Bluetooth during the session, they must be using screen mirroring/vnc of some kind. A hack solution. Any pc-based texting on the iPhone will never be made possible to the extent the link to windows phone companion for Android has been. You might want to purchase an app called Across, which turns your pc into a Bluetooth keyboard that your phone can connect to.

I can't find much information about this online, but it's possible if Apple lets you do it. They probably came to a deal with Dell or something.

Re: Accessible texting from laptop

I mean, clearly it is if Dell managed to pull it off. Their solution is to connect to the phone by bluetooth, and the limitation is that you can only see texts that you get while your phone and laptop are connected, but still.I'm wondering if it'd be possible to write a script to make it workable, even with the jaws curser I can't get it to read incoming messages or specific contact names in any way. The contacts thing is fixable because there's a search bar you can use. I don't know anything about programming though, so no clue if it's possible.Honestly though, just being able to use the laptop as a bluetooth keyboard for texting has already been a pretty decent middle ground fix. I just leave my phone unlocked near me and it'll read out incoming texts, I respond through the app. It's pretty useful for conversations with single people, it gets problematic when you try having more than one conversation at a time. The laptop also intercepts incoming calls now, which also isn't too bad of a feature. Shame I can't rout facetime video through my webcam, although I guess that'd be pushing it.

This is pretty much impossible and the reason boils down to Apple being Apple. God I do wish though...

Re: Accessible texting from laptop

I don't have a Dell but I do have a bluetooth keyboard. I don't use it though because I had a really bad bug which caused me to have to reset all my settings. Basically, after connecting, using, then disconnecting the keyboard, VO still acted as if it were there. This caused it to go into quick navigation off mode for typing, and the on screen keyboard to disappear every time I hit a text edit field.

Re: Accessible texting from laptop

Microsoft Your Phone seems to only work with android, unless I'm missing something. shame, because it seems to be exactly what I want.@Ironcross, If you have a dell, the mobile connect app could work as a really hacky bluetooth keyboard, you'd just have to check incoming messages on your phone. More convenient than having a laptop and a separate keyboard out, still not at all ideal.

Re: Accessible texting from laptop

I don't think you can unless you want to route through some other service that gives you a number or something like that. I've wondered the same thing. It would just be quicker if I'm already working on my computer to respond to texts there. Besides which, the dictation being not so good and typing even in Braille for me is not anywhere near my qwerty typing speed.

Accessible texting from laptop

I'm looking for an accessible solution for texting from a windows laptop using my iPhone via Bluetooth.I've tried Dell's mobile connect, and while I've figured out how to send texts, the app is barely accessible, so I haven't found a way to read texts sent back to me, making it a bit of a nonstarter.Anyone have any suggestions? If the app supports other features like file transfer even better, but I'm primarily focused on texting.
