Re: An approach to blind accessibility in racing games

I agree with you Ian, I've not seen this software in action, but if it's all these folks say it is, it shouldn't be too hard to adapt for regular console and pc games of any type. And as far as the simplified versions of games, I definitely know what they're talking about. Text sl comes rapidly to mind, it's basically a dumbed down version of second life, basically nothing more than a mud. My view is if I'm going to live in a virtual world, then gosh darn it give me the full experience sounds and all. I don't want muds. I said it once and I'll say it again. I agree with you Ian that it could be used and adapted for just about any sort of game out there, not just racing and it could most likely be adapted for console and pc games. And while I'm at it my friend, a job well done with a hero's call. If I wore a hat, I'd take it off to you.

Re: An approach to blind accessibility in racing games

it was created just for this research. but that doesn't mean it couldn't ever make its way into a commercial game.

Re: An approach to blind accessibility in racing games

This is fantastic. This would be wonderful if you could plug this into a normal console game, but this just sounds like some sort of game these folks have put together to show this interface off. I could be wrong however, and if I am, please correct me. I'm also familiar with the blind driver challenge equipment, being a fellow federationist. This system would be fantastic if they'd come up with something like it to play other kinds of games like open-ended larger world games like elder scrolls, the fable series and the like. Pc games would be good as well. I keep saying that eventually we'll be able to play all manner of games whether they be console or pc games. It'll take some time, yes but I truly believe that it is going to happen.
