Cool, thanks! I'll keep it in mind in case the watch I ordered doesn't work out.

Re: Anybody use a tactile watch?

I have a Bradley Timepiece too. I must admit I'm not a huge fan, which is a shame.Coming from braille watch land where you have to touch the hands gently, I tend to touch very lightly,. As a result, sometimes the manget would have stopped being at their right place, and I'd not notice.Braille watches are much better in this regard, although I would definitely like to get something more premium.

I have the Vostog wrist watch, bought it on Ebay in 2020 and it is a tank for the 50 euros I paid for it.You can search on Ebay for mecanical braille watch and you will probably find something good. Also, thanks for the link to the pocket watch, it is really appreciated.

Re: Anybody use a tactile watch?

I have 2 braille watches. One is the expensive seiko one probably mentioned by post 6. I found it on amazon for about 40% off. It is mechanical, but uses a battery for the motor for the tactile hand movement which is i think different from the movement part that actually keeps time. The battery died in an old one i had when I was living in China, so I eventually got the vostok one that is mentioned in post 11. I found both on amazon. The cheaper one is completely mechanical and tics really loudly. It also needs to be wound every day or so I think. However, the thing feels like a tank, and would not surprise me if it lasted years if taken care of correctly. The expensive one is supposed to have twice as much water resistance and is probably more accurate, but useless when I live in an area where no one can afford and bother to maintain some fancy thing that isn't designed to impress your prospective wife's family. The spending behavior of people in rural China is very different from how i was raised in America. lol The mechanical backup will always work for me, and I will not have to worry about listening to phones or computers and people at work at the same time.

Re: Anybody use a tactile watch?

Well, I dropped sub $70 on the magnetic tactile watch. Should be here in 2-3 weeks. So we'll see how it goes. It has a woven steel band and ball bearings and magnets and all. I just couldn't resist taking the chance. Hopefully it turns out to be as cool as it sounds.

Re: Anybody use a tactile watch?

Well we might know if I order it. I mean, we'll have to wait for at least six years, but still. Here's the link for the pocket watch somebody asked for.https://www.maxiaids.com/reizen-chrome- … inch-chainFYI my wife says the chain is clipped on, so it can be removed if you don't need it. Oh and to somebody suggesting I get a mechanical watch, great. Care to recommend one I can actually buy and use? Some Russian thing you got twenty years ago doesn't really help me, you know? I mean unless I could travel back in time and possess your body and get the watch and carry it forward in time. I mean, I actually could do that, but I've had a tiring couple of days, so luckily for you and your watch, I'm feeling kind of lazy.

Re: Anybody use a tactile watch?

There is a setting on your ipod or iphone that prevents the volume of alarms and any ringtones to lower their volume when you lower voiceover's volume though I can't remember now where to find it. Alternatively, you can look up volume in the rotor and turn voice over down from there. I've always been fond of tactile watches, I would love one of these. I have a steel tactile pocket watch, some russian brand which I bought about 20 years ago. It is entirely mecanical, works without any batteries and it is in perfect shape even today. My advice is if you want a long lasting watch go for a mecanical one, these modern ones are easy to break and wont last long. I ruined a few of these tiny tactical braille wrist watches before just settling to use my old pocket watch.

Re: Anybody use a tactile watch?

Ok, it was just an idea. You might be able to buy the watch from that site, I don't know if the buy button or link is usable. The issue I have with these kind of watches, braille ones too, is I have heavy hands so being gental like you need to be with this stuff can't happen for me, welll I guess I could do it but I'd have to be extra careful I don't knock a hand slightly or something like that.

Re: Anybody use a tactile watch?

I don't really care about the site layout. I could probably use it to buy one, and that's about all I worry about in a sight layout, can I use it?No on turning down the phone. I mean first of all I don't have a phone, though the iPod is similar enough I guess. But if I turn that down, then the alarm's going to be turned down as well, as far as I know. I'm not going to turn it down every time I want to check the time.If I don't decide to go for the Zalsach or whatever it is, I'll just snag a regular old braille watch. But I love metal and magnets and all that good stuff, so I was wondering if anybody had used a Bradley or one of the knockoffs, there seem to be a lot of them and they show up on sites specifically for the blind too. The other thing that tempts me is that seventy bucks isn't *too* horrible to be out, if it turns out it really doesn't work well for me for whatever reason. The braille pocket watch is about twenty bucks cheaper though.

Re: Anybody use a tactile watch?

I don't use a watch but I have to agree with you, it's probably a design coppying the Bradley Watch, I really don't like the site; the watch is design with the blind in mind but their layout is bad.If I were you; I'd just turn down the phone and put it close to my ear.

Anybody use a tactile watch?

Specifically one of these things.https://zalsach.com/It's probably a ripoff of the Eone Bradley watch, but though that's cool and I'd happily support the original, I don't have $260 minimum lying around to buy one. I was going to get a braille pocket watch until I saw this. I want something to tell time that doesn't talk so I can check the time without potentially waking up my wife. I'd guess most of you use phones now like most people, but I figured it was worth checking if anybody had any experiences, just in case.
