Re: Castaways strategies for mission 1

Thanks everyone. I managed to beat the game with way too much provender to spare--as far as I know the  mission objectives aren't stated. I'm finding that RTS isn't as appealing to me as RPG, so I may not do mission 2 after all.

Re: Castaways strategies for mission 1

Definitely make sure your storehouse and tavern are close to one another. Many times I've come close to completing a mission only to have my people start starving because it took too long to deliver food to the tavern. Granted this particular genre of games isn't one of my favorites so I haven't spent as much time with it as I would with something like, say A Hero's Call. You also have to consider weapons and armor and things of that sort since if I'm not mistaken that's one of the missions where sooner or later you're going to have to contend with Goblins. Weapons and armor take a lot longer to make than other goods so that's something you'll want to start with fairly early on.

Re: Castaways strategies for mission 1

Dense forests can be cut down.I'm fairly certain that peasants can go anywhere on the map, except swimming in the ocean.I've always put my buildings as close together as I could, so that when peasants are taking things back and forth, they are able to do it quicker.I always try to put my storehouse as close to the center of the map as I can, but if that's not possible, I look for a place that is close to as many terrain types as I can get, in order to make it faster for peasants to bring things there.Hope that helps a bit.

Castaways strategies for mission 1

So, I've been playing Castaways. I put in quite a few hours with this one. So I have a bunch of questions.1. Do dense forests get cut down, or just forests2 Are dense forests impassable, or can peasants pass through them to deliver goods??Can buildings be grouped together right next to each other or should they be separated by a square or two? Should I leave space in front of the buildings so that they can be entered or does this not matter? And finally:Where should the storehouse be located ideally in order to use it as the central  hub of activity that it's supposed to be?
