Re: Certain people getting ignored? first of all, I never stated that everyone was to respond to everything everyone posts, nor that everyone had to know everything. all I was stating was that it can indeed be rather sad when I post something and get no replies not even a look it up on google or an I might connect ot the mud sooner or later... etc, and within the actual topic I posted about a new open public beta of a mud available I explained it in detail. I have seen others simply put, for example, just the title of their mud/moo in their topic subject and get dozens of replies, for example prometheus. I am not saying i am an attention freak, just that a reply or two over the two weeks I have had some topics open get posted, and that at least a glance is had at what I have to say. OK, maybe not all of you, but the majority of you.Why do all of you ignore Speeder? He posts something and you guys completely ignore it, although you view it. You dont post anything and act like hes a fly on the wall to observe. You act like his topics arent important, so you bump it down the list of topics until its buried in the topics list.My question is, whats Speeder done to you? Whats he done to you to get such treatment? Why do you ignore him like he doesnt exist? Because right now, all of you are acting like complete idiots. I thought the blind community was supposed to help each other. I guess not. I guess all of you are animals who dont care about your own forum-mates. At least, thats how I see you, completely ignoring certain people. Grow up, all of you, and sta rt helping each other and others. This must stop. Im going to quickly answer this.I made a youtube.dl topic whilst I did get answers and did post a couple of times in my topic, did I expect everyone to suddenly give me great incite into this awesome new program? No. was I a little disappointed when I didnt see any replies to my topic, yeah, but thing is as people have stated previously, not everyone is interested in muds, youtube converting programs and so on. Ill be honest, Im tire of muds of any kind. I have an addon for NVDA or what ever its called topic, again I didnt really expect a reply so quick or maybe one saying, why would you want to do that, what youre saying is silly and no one would want to use it. i got a reply pointing me towards a python tutorial and the NVDA making addon tutorial. I hope I get somewhere with it. OH yeah side note, whats the diffirence between power shell and the command line? dont they work on a simuler basses?Anywa y dont feel bad just cause people dont answer your topics they might not want to answer, remember not everyone is interested in the same thing you are. For example I like accapellla music and how it sounds, does it mean that person 1 must like it and reply? No. Ive just descuvered the command line and think its the most coolest thing ever and the fact I can delete hole lodes of files is amazing. simply go to your directory in the command line, then write for example. del *.mp4 press enter and theyre all gone! I think thats quite awesome, but to someone who had no interest or knowledge this might sounds like rubbish or something totally not for them, and thats fine. Ive noticed that when certain games come out, especially anticipated releases, its what the discussions move to, and for a while other topics dont seem to get noticed.Honestly, the best thing you and speeder can do is wait. Re: Certain people getting ignored? @Ethin, I think accusing others of willful ignorance and ranting about the communitys dislike of certain people is indeed going rather far. You know the rules on moderation and insults, if indeed someone had been actively insulting or acting maliciously towards Speeder then there wouldve been a quick response, and that has not happened, or at least if it has please report it in the usual fashion. On the one hand, Burak and co are indeed correct, there are times when a posted topic simply doesnt get responses for one reason or another, that is part of being on a forum (Ive got my own fare share of topics with less than 5 replies). I will say though checking Speeders profile and the 10 topics he has created it does seem you have a point, they have not gotten many replies. The answer however does not seem to be (as you suggest), that it is anything that the community has against Speeder, so much as perhaps that the subjects of his topics either are very specific questions that do not require huge amounts of responses, or that they are not written in such a way as to get the general interest of people browsing the forum. For example Need list of joystick supported games a quite okay question, but a list would be gigantic! personally I dont own a joystick so didnt answer. games and joysticks wouldve likely been a better title. Tyros 4 I dont even know what one of these is. Saying what it is in the topic title might be helpful so people know what theyre getting into as a lot of people tend to ignore stuff they dont understand or assume its not aimed at them. Open beta of a mud For a start, there are huge amounts of new games, but also weve seen a lot of mud betas. Perhaps new space mud or new mud with great combat system or something like that would grab attention more. Remember, w hen you write a topic subject it has to tell people enough to make people want to open it and answer, sinse the forum is rather large and not everyone can read everything. this is I suspect why Speeders 10 topics might have been missed, not because there is any animosity towards him personally but because they just got a little lost in the flow. You come here to chat with people with similar interests, and maybe get a few questions answered along the way. Saying that people are making a point of ignoring your topics is completely absurd. Ive ignored topics before, simply because the title did not grab my attention, I dont like the game or program in question, I dont understand what theyre looking for, Etc. There have also been times when Ill open a topic and see that I cannot help with their question and move on. My intelligence about the specific topic does not change depending on who creates the thread. I tend to ignore topics that talk about MUDs since I have no interest in them, and just as well since I wouldnt be able to contribute to the conversation. Its similar when I post a topic. I create a new threa d with the hope that someone will come along who knows the answer to my question. A lot of the time though, they dont, and thats okay. Ill continue trying to solve it myself, but it is no fault of anyone that they were unable to help me with my issue. My personal preference when it comes to answering a topic is not to do it if you cant contribute. I get annoyed if I ask a question, and the next post tells me to Google it. If I hadnt yet googled it, I wouldnt be here on a forum asking. I also find it frustrating when the second post says that they dont know, or even worse, they ask what Im talking about. For example, if I post a question about WavePad and the next post asks what WavePad is, yes, Im going to be a little annoyed. However, I do not take any of my anger out on the forum. The people here are all the same in that were here to talk with people about common interests and have an enjoyable time doing it. I agree with ethin.first, I asked about the overkil and jediquake mods about 2 years ago, that topic remains unanswered. 6 months ago I asked again, and it took over a week to get a reply. while I know that it is unreasonable that every one will be on at the same time and always know what I am talking about, but seriously a topic going unanswered, then a follow-up topic getting views but not being responded to for days? not even an, I dont know, but look it up on google, etc? I told people about a new mud and didnt get so much as an I dont like muds in reply? even if they dont like muds, being ignored is stupid. These kids just want attention, and if they can get attention by getting answers to their forum topics, no matter what those answers might be, it wont hurt to give them some. It wont really be beneficial to get a bunch of I dont knows, but hey, if it makes them feel better, go ahead and do it. But, as burak and severestormsteve said, I am looking forward to both of you as one of the first 10 posters on all topics I create. You may want to create a reply list so that you know who has requested your immediate attention after topic creation. I can appreciate Ethins point here, sinse if you go on a forum looking for conversation it can be somewhat disheartening to post an interesting post or a request and have nobody respond, however as Exodus and Burak said I dont think this is out of any sort of malice, though btw Burak, trying to consider the good of everyone is exactly what comunists do :. I will also point out that Speeder has posted exactly 10 new topics in close to four years! that is not exactly a representative sample, particularly considering as I said I do feel part of the issue is to do with the topic subjects. It isnt! possible to reply to every topic, sinse frankly some things just dont interest or concern some people, however the more topics you post and the more diverse your range of interests the more likely you are to start a good conversation, the same goes for participating in other topics on other subjects, heck what do you think the new monthly chat topic s are for if not for people to drop in and say a casual hello. As every one has said, every one posts topics that get menimal replies. look at my profile. there are quite a few of those. but do you see me complaining? And I know for a fact that people know I exist... and I sure dont feel like an idiot. So... I guess... if you really think that...Im looking forward to your responses on all my topics that dont have any replies from this day forth. Oh. and if its expected that we all respond to such topics, can I at least be paid an hourly wage of $5? or are we gonna higher some immediate response staff for the forum who just sit at their computers and respond to topics as soon as theyre posted? Im going to quickly answer this.I made a youtube.dl topic whilst I did get answers and did post a couple of times in my topic, did I expect everyone to suddenly give me great incite into this awesome new program? No. was I a little disappointed when I didnt see any replies to my topic, yeah, but thing is as people have stated previously, not everyone is interested in muds, youtube converting programs and so on. Ill be honest, Im tire of muds of any kind. I have an addon for NVDA or what ever its called topic, again I didnt really expect a reply so quick or maybe one saying, why would you want to do that, what youre saying is silly and no one would want to use it. I got a reply pointing me towards a python tutorial and the NVDA making addon tutorial. I hope I get somewhere with it. OH yeah side note, whats the diffirence between power shell and the command line? dont they work on a simuler basses?Anywa y dont feel bad just cause people dont answer your topics. They might not want to answer, remember not everyone is interested in the same thing you are. For example I like accapellla music and how it sounds, does it mean that person 1 must like it and reply? No. Ive just discovered the command line and think its the most coolest thing ever and the fact I can delete hole lodes of files is amazing. simply go to your directory in the command line, then write for example. del *.mp4 press enter and theyre all gone! I think thats quite awesome, but to someone who had no interest or knowledge this might sound like rubbish or something totally not for them, and thats fine. Not everyone can be me and Im glad about that, cause theres only one me, unless we get into the topic of multiple universes... Im off to see if my addon topic has g ot any more replies. TO acknowledge something; to talk or think on a topics existence. So technically every time we go over a topic youve made and our screen reader says the name of it, our brain thinks on that topic for a second or so, so there for we are acknowledging that the topic exists. Smart ass answer? Yeah probably but seriously, Im not sure how old you are but the quicker you realize that people are not going to answer every topic you bring up the better for all of us. This will probably be the last post I make on this topic. better to delete this topic and move on, I think. and let me make this clear, I will not reply to topics I have no interest in, and if you want people to tell you to go and Google(topic name,) then you probably should have done that in the first place. I really dont mean to be harsh here but you do need to realize that the world isnt going to acknowledge your existence or posts just because you want it to, you need to give people a reason.
