Re: Could this computer support debian? I've never even used a mac. All I know is that it uses the unix file structure because its a heavily modified version of freebsd. What could I do on a mac that I couldn't do on windows? Re: Could this computer support debian?
Re: Could this computer support debian? Thats one of the first issues you'll be facing under Linux that more or less look just the same. You want to get away from Windows? Great. But Linux is probably the less attractive solution, because many of the tools don't work with Orca. Orca as a screen reader isn't comparable to Jaws, NVDA or VoiceOver at all. If you really want to move away, stick with Mac OS, or let it be. Thats at least my oppinion. I tried it once as well and I know people who tried and moved back. Its simply not comfortable in everyday use. Re: Could this computer support debian?
Re: Could this computer support debian? Hi Seth,This pc will definitely be able to support any flavor of Linux you'd like to throw on it, rather that be Debian as you said, or Ubuntu though I've only tried Ubuntu myself. The only thing you'll need to do is either burn a CD/DVD with the debian install disk, or use a program like Rufus to slap it onto a thumb drive, and then get into the boot menu and select the right disk to boot from. Upon boot, Debian will beep either through a PC Speaker or through your default sound card if your machine does not have a pc speaker. At this point, you can press S and then enter to enable speech. I believe since your pc is bios legacy mode rather than Uefi, you may only need to press S.Hope this helps.
