Re: Games for Halloween.

Hi Mike. There are two choice of the vampire games, the first one is just called choice of the vampire, the second one is fall of Memphis. I briefly tried the first one when I was considering doing a podcast on both games. I was a trifle put off by the fact that the games seemed both very American centric and a little jingoistic in design, eg lots of talk about the "battle for freedom and democracy" and also because the games' basic setting was rather too close to the fairly derivative Anne Rice interview with a vampire type of setup what with being set in 19th century New Orleans with gentlemen and politics and such. choice of the vampire was also fairly obviously one of the earlier cog titles, eg, the first chapter  one of those "choose your best trait" type of affairs. This isn't to say they were intrinsically bad or that I wouldn't try them, indeed I think I only got as far as chapter three, though when I got interrupted during the recording of the podcast about them I didn't go back and play more, though I probably should, indeed there are so many cog and hg titles I've yet to play it's quite ridiculous.

Re: Games for Halloween.

Well in terms of audio first person type games the one I was thinking of was I believe called escape the house or similar, but I am not sure. There is the game heethcoat, an audio  adventure like an interactive drama about a haunted asylum which is still around I believe, though if your looking for haunted house games, as I said gamebooks are probably your best bet as there have been a fair few, indeed one recent Cog one just now.

Re: Games for Halloween.

There are the action games such as the gate and swamp as mentioned, also zompocalypse (a damb shame that the somethinelse games' aren't working since all of there's would've been perfect), though I believe that some of the other audio adventures such as blindside might still qualify (I do recall hearing of one about a haunted house but it doesn't have a db page yet). then there is slender lost vision which was intended as horror, and of course good old shades of doom with many mutated nasties. In terms of other things though, remember there is a lot by way of audio adventures and indeed textual adventures such as gamebooks. In the first category is of course descent into madness, chillingham and a couple of others I've run across, while the second category includes many of the Cog and Hg titles from zombie exodus to the shadow horror, not to mention the most recent release. There are also horror gamebooks over on the  fighting fantasy project, indeed hellfire I'd regard as one of the single nastiest things I've ever read, and while we're talking gamebooks, don't forget dead man walking over on chooseyourstory. Lastly, of course there is a lot by way of browser games and muds and such, although I confess that most browser games which attempt vampires etc tend to devolve into stat management and one click pvp, though puppet nightmares is worth a look for it's awesomely disturbing story about evil dolls. That is what occurs to me at the second but there is probably a lot more kicking  around, though interestingly enough nothing accept the Cog choice of the vampire games really vampire related that isn't just pure stat management which probably says something about vampires .

Hi.I briefly started the game yesterday, and noticed I could get something, if I had a saved progress from the other zombie game. I remember having completed the other game long time ago, but I've lost my gamesave somehow. However, the safehaven game on my iPhone only let me choose to restore a saved game from the website... So, am I missing anything? Can I, somehow transfer a gamesave from my phone to the website? I don't see such an option in the safehaven game.

Re: New cog and Hg games for halloween

There are some bugs I noticed, like if you check one choice and want to switch before hitting next, you have to back out then go back in to switch it. Secondly, some choice things need to be finished.Spoilers ahead:At the end, when you go in to rescue Jaime, you can choose to bring your pet with you or not. I brought my German Shepherd Max along. When you return home your house is on fire. It says, "You'll have to go in and rescue Max." And a moment later, someone said they went to your house and got him.

Re: New cog and Hg games for halloween

@Lirin, yes you can! buy the games on steam if you like, however usually when I post about the Cog or Hg games someone asks if steam is needed for them, which it manifestly isn't since they're available on so many different platforms, like Slj i like to play the games on Ios myself.@Slj, Zombie exodus is pretty good, though i found episode five a bit irritating since I got trapped into a scene I couldn't get out of any other way, however the writing and challenges are most amazing. I get the strong impression that Zs safe haven is a different emphasis, being more fluid in the way your skills and advantages and disadvantages and such affect the story, rather liek choiceofzombies in fact, indeed I look forward to giving a try myself, thouh I have so many Cog and Hg games to play it's not funny.Sadly they didn't say the price in the announcement, but most cog and hg games are 1-3 dollars, on rare occasions as much as five though not usually,
and of course this is in the cash off offer which probably means I should pick it up myself. I actually should get around to doing a podcast for the cog/hg games, since they're ones people really should try, plus it'd be interesting to do one with mrs. Dark who has already played and enjoyed fate haven, albeit she didn't get too far with it and had to stop since unfortunately it was the same night my dad had a heart attack earlier this year and needed a bypass (from which he's now recovered). So woffle aside, hopefully I can get off my rear and do a casting of the pod in the future. Any suggestions which Cog or hg game (probably a cog one), might be a good one to show off the system with?

New cog and Hg games for halloween

Hi. yes two new games in choice script, the Cog title progress wolf and the hg title zombie exodus, safe haven. for those who aren't aware these are multiple choice gamebooks with stats and generally cool gameplay available on Ios, Android, or directly available to buy on the Choiceogames website, so steam definitely not necessary though it's mentioned in the announcement.Main announcement and info is here Actually this is one I think where I'm far more interested in the hg game than the cog title, since zombie exodus I really liked and would love to see more by the same author set in the same world, plus customizations and challenges and such in this one sound pretty amazing! But the Cog title sounds a bit too american specific for my taste since all that congressmen campaign stuff is all a bit much for me, plus of course it's all over the place at the moment, though it is true that I'd probably find Us elections interested me a little more if warewolves were involved . either way, I'll repost the announcement and game descriptions below: Two new games for Halloween!First, Congresswolf, the latest in our popular “Choice of Games” line of multiple-choice interactive-fiction games, is now available for Steam, iOS, and Android. It's 25% off until November 1st.Second, Hosted Games has a new game for you to play, Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven, out now for iOS, Android, and the Chrome Web Store for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
