Re: How to hold iPhone for video calls

@7Flat on a table, with the screen facing up, means either your head is directly over top of the device with your neck bent or the caller on the other end is seeing your  wonderfully beautiful ceiling. The other problem is that blind people don't look at things properly usually.  We turn our heads way more than sighted people, the instruction "look at the phone" is almost certainly going to be align phone screen with nose.  Which only works if the phone is tilted at around 45 degrees.  Otherwise it's a very awkward position from the sighted perspective.Much better to hold your head naturally, and figure out how to position the phone properly with your hand, in other words.

Re: How to hold iPhone for video calls

Depends really. Putting it down on a table isn't really blindy looking, i mean you do the same when you are video calling with your iPad or other tablet devices. It's not loke the camera only views in one straight line.Greetings Moritz.

Re: How to hold iPhone for video calls

I've got mine as front facing camera, and put it against my talking minion, who ends up kind of holding the phone, which is pretty funny.

Re: How to hold iPhone for video calls

Put your elbow at your side, hold the phone with your hand around the back so that the screen is uncovered.  Your elbow should be at like a 45 degree angle or so, so that your arm forms a V shape. Tilt the screen so that it lines up with your face.  Take your left hand, touch your nose, then touch the center of the phone's screen; if this is a short-ish straight line with no obstructions it's probably pretty good.If I hold the phone so that the screen is flat against my nose and my right hand is wrapped around the back of it, with the speaker up and the home button down, I get the right position by just unbending my elbow to about 45 degrees.  The actual camera on it is usually near the speaker that you put near your ear.The table method probably looks more awkward and blindie than anything unless you've got just the right table.  If you want to put it on a stand, they do make stands for this purpose; they should cost you around $20 at worst.Find someone sighted to have some practice video calls with.  The position for this isn't actually very difficult but you'll want someone on the other end telling you when it's lined up until you have it down.

Re: How to hold iPhone for video calls

On my iPhone 6S, the camera is on the top right side on the bottom of the phone, if you are holding the phone in portrait mode with the Home button towards you.My method is to grip the phone around the back and hold the phone parallel to my face if using the front camera, and if you are using the back camera, flip the phone so that the back is toward you, then move your face to the right a bit to fully catch the viewfinder of the camera.

How to hold iPhone for video calls

Hi guys,So I’ve just spent like an hour trying to find the answer to this question and am really astonished no one ever wrote it down anywhere. If I want to video chat with someone, how do I hold my phone so that they can see me properly? Do I just hold it in front of my face so that I speak into the screen? And if I want to show someone an object, do I hold it above the object? Thanks.
