This is only the Macbook airs which comes with a SSD drive.You said you wanted a faster computer, lol. I tell you, putting a SSD drive in your machine, and itll be more as twice as fast than it is now.My old macbook Pro from 2011 boots up in 15 seconds. 15 seconds from I press the power button to the speech comes up, and I can type my password to sign in. It loads my user account in like 4 seconds, and then the machine works without any lack.I know a lot of people who have a macbook pro from 2011 with a normal harddrive. They boots up in like 30 seconds or 45 seconds, and their machines lacks a lot while loading their user accounts which takes a while.Just something to think about. Some people might know because of the size and the weight when carying the machine in a backpack.You can check the harddrive size if people wanna know by doing the following:1: When yu are in Finder, press command shift c.2: Arrow down to your internal harddrive which might be called macintosh HD, and press command i.3: Use the VO cursor to read how big the harddrive is.4: Close the window by pressing command w.Regarding all other specs if people are interested:1: Press VO m to access the menubar.2: Choose the App le menu, and arrow down to about my Mac.there, you can find all the information about the computer. Let me know if you need any help on how to navigate this window, which can seem pretty tricky if yu dont know its layout.How to get rid of Windows:Is that a bootcamp or a virtual machine? Do you have to reboot the Mac OSX to start up in windows?If thats the case, I can make a guide on how to get rid of that if needed. I cant make a step by step guide without braking my own machine, but I can give you enough steps to get you started.Regarding to ram:No matter if youre using Mac or Windows, 8 gb of ram is enough. This is enough even if you are running a virtual machine. Why?Well, youre blind, right? What programs uses lots and lots of ram? thats heavy graphic for sure. I have never heard about any accessible or playable games which uses more than 4 gb of ram, and the oprating system, Windows or M ac, will never use more than 2 gb of ram. So Ill say more than 8 gb of ram is an overkill. I have a machine with 16 gb of ram, and there is not any difference between 8 gb and 16 gb, because the 8 gb ram is not going to be used up. You can easily check that in activity monitor on the Mac, and in the job list in Windoes.Well, thats of course up to you, but just for your information for someone who have tried that. You just cant get good notebook computers without spending more than is reasonable, or going down the risky road of white-label cases. I really think you should consider, if nothing else, turning it into an exclusively Windows machine, as I have described previously.If youre set on selling it, I can help you wipe and fresh-install, depending on what it came with. Its also quite simple to reverse the Bootcamp process. Get any firmware updates from OS X, and then do it (no excuses ).As to specs, well, its true that I like to Max things out, but you can do that with Macs too, you know. In your case it might be worth looking for a Mac repair centre who would be willing to make the changes for you that you desire, although I think post-purchase thats limited to RAM and disk, depending on model; processor is probably off the cards. This is why when you purchase an Apple computer you always buy the biggest and fastest there is, to get a good ROI even if you turn it into a Windows/Linux box.As to whether youd notice the changes, well, that depends. With virtualisation being so damn convenient, more RAM means giving each machine more memory, which means doing even more useful stuff from one logged-in session. But, only if you actually do that; I moved from an Air to a Pro solely to support virtualisation, but if all youre doing is playing the odd audiogame its just not worth it to give Doze XP more than 2GB. Every OS supports a swap file; the ideal situation is the one in which you do not need to swap at all, so add memory capacity to avoid it. But if you cannot do that, its really not a problem, unless youre crazy for speed. One of the upgrades for your MBP could be an SSD, which could help a lot with that. But if your usage is modest enough, even 4GB is sufficient.Apps that dont like being run multiple times may just share resources. RAM probably doesnt have anything to do with it at all.
