Re: Is anyone in the UK interested in buying a macbook pro?

Regarding the harddrive: No, not even the latest Macbook pros comes with a SSD drive. This is only the Macbook airs which comes with a SSD drive. You said you wanted a faster computer, lol. I tell you, putting a SSD drive in your machine, and itll be more as twice as fast than it is now.My old macbook Pro from 2011 boots up in 15 seconds. 15 seconds from I press the power button to the speech comes up, and I can type my password to sign in. It loads my user account in like 4 seconds, and then the machine works without any lack.I know a lot of people who have a macbook pro from 2011 with a normal harddrive. They boots up in like 30 seconds or 45 seconds, and their machines lacks a lot while loading their user accounts which takes a while.Just something to think about. Re: Is anyone in the UK interested in buying a macbook pro?

Hi.let me first say that I respect you for having tried it out, and then come to the conclution that its not for you. However, should you change your mind, I would always be glad to help you to get more used to how things works. Regarding the specs:Do you know if its a 13 inch or a 15 inch? Some people might know because of the size and the weight when carying the machine in a backpack. You can check the harddrive size if people wanna know by doing the following:1: When yu are in Finder, press command shift c.2: Arrow down to your internal harddrive which might be called macintosh HD, and press command i.3: Use the VO cursor to read how big the harddrive is.4: Close the window by pressing command w.Regarding all other specs if people are interested:1: Press VO m to access the menubar.2: Choose the App
le menu, and arrow down to about my Mac.there, you can find all the information about the computer. Let me know if you need any help on how to navigate this window, which can seem pretty tricky if yu dont know its layout. How to get rid of Windows:Is that a bootcamp or a virtual machine? Do you have to reboot the Mac OSX to start up in windows? If thats the case, I can make a guide on how to get rid of that if needed. I cant make a step by step guide without braking my own machine, but I can give you enough steps to get you started.Regarding to ram:No matter if youre using Mac or Windows, 8 gb of ram is enough. This is enough even if you are running a virtual machine. Why?Well, youre blind, right? What programs uses lots and lots of ram? thats heavy graphic for sure. I have never heard about any accessible or playable games which uses more than 4 gb of ram, and the oprating system, Windows or M
ac, will never use more than 2 gb of ram. So Ill say more than 8 gb of ram is an overkill. I have a machine with 16 gb of ram, and there is not any difference between 8 gb and 16 gb, because the 8 gb ram is not going to be used up. You can easily check that in activity monitor on the Mac, and in the job list in Windoes.Well, thats of course up to you, but just for your information for someone who have tried that. Re: Is anyone in the UK interested in buying a macbook pro?

Moderation! Can I please ask people take actual discussion of sale of items off the forum and do it via E-mail between you. Not that I suspect anything is wrong, but I would rather people did not make a habbit of making commercial arrangements on the forum sinse we have no way of guaranteeing anything or any safe guards regarding buyer protection, and it would not be good if the forum got dragged into some sort of rangle if something went wrong. I also believe there are some specific legal and registration requirements about sales happening online, and Id not like to see us get busted for that. So for all of these reasons could people please discuss this via E-mail.That being said, I dont actually think there is anything wrong with this and no reason Brad shouldnt sell or Lauren shouldnt buy Id just rather not set any worrying pressidents or risk turning this forum into some sort of emporium, sinse the second money and sale
s get involved, you can potentially run into some very nasty legal hassles.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=176008#p176008

Re: Is anyone in the UK interested in buying a macbook pro?

@Brad: Im sorry you feel you need to sell your MacBook. While I am certainly having extremely strong feelings about going back to Windows exclusively (pending the installation of Yosemite), the one thing I can absolutely be sure about is that by buying exclusively on specs I will be missing out on quality hardware. You just cant get good notebook computers without spending more than is reasonable, or going down the risky road of white-label cases. I really think you should consider, if nothing else, turning it into an exclusively Windows machine, as I have described previously. If youre set on selling it, I can help you wipe and fresh-install, depending on what it came with. Its also quite simple to reverse the Bootcamp process. If you want the specs, launch OS X, run Software Update and make sure its updated, and then go to Apple, About This Mac.URL: http://forum.audi

Re: Is anyone in the UK interested in buying a macbook pro?

hi sebby.I was told it cant be done.well actually I was told, delete the mac part of your hard drive, erm, yeah Im not that stupid. If it can be done, I might be interested in doing that and saving myself money.Im going to go to Pc world tomorrow and take a look at there computers. The basic thing I want is for it to be fast, lode quite a few programs at once so Ill need at least eight gigs of ram?I was going to go with sixteen but was told that theres no difference, but surely there is?I mean wouldnt that mean Id be able to run more programs and get less, errors saying, so and so program has stomped working. due to me running lodes of the same program? For example, I like to convert a lot of things and yesterday I figured out that I can run more than one of the same program lol. Yes it took me this long to try it, but of course when i ran 3 or 4 it gave me errors. Is this to do with
ram and does that mean the more ram i have the more programs I can run?I dont think it affects the spead of the conversions but yeah, could someone help me with that? But Id feel bad lol cause Lauren wants it.well he or she hasnt got back to me yet.Tell you what, if Ive not herd anything by next week and dont find a windows machine I like, Ill turn it into one.Could you give me the steps to do that please Sebby?ThanksURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=176018#p176018

Re: Is anyone in the UK interested in buying a macbook pro?

Brad, I described the process of turning a Mac into a Windows box for you before, in this topic. Get any firmware updates from OS X, and then do it (no excuses ).As to specs, well, its true that I like to Max things out, but you can do that with Macs too, you know. In your case it might be worth looking for a Mac repair centre who would be willing to make the changes for you that you desire, although I think post-purchase thats limited to RAM and disk, depending on model; processor is probably off the cards. This is why when you purchase an Apple computer you always buy the biggest and fastest there is, to get a good ROI even if you turn it into a Windows/Linux box.As to whether youd notice the changes, well, that depends. With virtualisation being so damn convenient, more RAM
means giving each machine more memory, which means doing even more useful stuff from one logged-in session. But, only if you actually do that; I moved from an Air to a Pro solely to support virtualisation, but if all youre doing is playing the odd audiogame its just not worth it to give Doze XP more than 2GB. Every OS supports a swap file; the ideal situation is the one in which you do not need to swap at all, so add memory capacity to avoid it. But if you cannot do that, its really not a problem, unless youre crazy for speed. One of the upgrades for your MBP could be an SSD, which could help a lot with that. But if your usage is modest enough, even 4GB is sufficient.Apps that dont like being run multiple times may just share resources. RAM probably doesnt have anything to do with it at all. Sure, you can run multiple copies of a program which in theory could work on a job faster with more RAM, but its much more likely that your task
isnt memory-intensive to start with and the programs are limited by disk and/or network throughput.Let us know what happens, and HTH.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=176024#p176024

Hi sebby.aaa! my head! Thanks for that topic and giving me the instructions but its just to much for me to do.Im going to either: 1. keep the mac and just use windows side of it. Might update the four GB of ram to eight just, cause. Id put in sixteen but dont think you can.Although from what Im reading I wont notice much of a difference anyway, oh well meh, why not. it cant harm my computer.Although, Im wondering how much they, (pc world would charge me to update like that?)Or 2. get an answer back from lauren, by a laptop max it out, and be happy for seven years lol. @Brad: honestly, it isnt hard. One of us could be around to help you do each individual step. If you have sighted help its even easier.Do these three things:1. Get me the descriptive name of the machine. Apple, About This Mac, More Info. The model name, like MacBook Pro, late 2013, for example. I need to know what your options are.2. Download either Mountain Lion or Mavericks installer from the App Store.3. Procure two USB thumb drives whose contents are expendable, of at least 8 GB each, and a copy of Windows on DVD.Thats it, youre ready to go.
