Re: Let's talk about the racing genre for the blind I didn't count sequence storm myself since it seems as much a rhythm action game as it is racer, if not more so. I tried a couple of the tikon blue racing titles, but couldn't get in to them, Audio speed I could never get to work on Ios, and whilst I had more success with audio rally racing on pc, bog standard racing is usually less my favourite genre without powerups, jumps and weird things in the track to play with, not to mention a career mode, though on that basis I should enjoy bari bari racing. This is one thing I always liked in rail racer, there were so many extra tracks to buy and play, and the mechanics were easy enough to learn, but hard to master. Everything is given to you from the start and no campaign, which means the best thing to do is 1 solo or net race and time trial, which leaves little in replay and lasting value if you just want to play alone or dont have people to play with. Re: Let's talk about the racing genre for the blind I think it depends whether you want realistic racing mechanics or not. If you want realism, then Top Speed probably isn't the best. I know a lot of people who aren't very impressed with the mechanics, and if that is important to you, you might want to go for something else. But if you want something you can have fun with right out of the box and still with quite a few customisation options, then TS should definitely be on your list. Yes, you cannot achieve total control, but it makes the game accessible to the point where you can win races and enjoy what you're doing. If it could be made in a special format OCR can recognize better, we could better tune cars etc and it would be a lot more enjoyable. Amazingly top speed has something which other games don't, that being able to make your totally own car. I admit, racing isn't a favourite genre of mine, and the idea of a future racing sport in a world where everyone was blind always sounded a bit dire, but the execution, especially when using the mouse was just so precise, as was the ability to buy different tracks and customise your racer. Whilst racing in general is far less my thing, I was surprised how good rail racer was. it's a damnable shame version 2 with the battle upgrades was never developed, and that version 1 is no longer around.I also enjoy a quick blast on cyclepath from time to time too .Actually, it's odd, but there seem to be more unfinished projects in the racing genre than in anything else, snow race, rail racer, the long and complex history of raceway, I even heard playing in the dark were working on another top speed game before they stopped things. In that compilation of audio games released last summer is a pretty decent racer that if developed further could really be great. When I play it, I feel like I used to when I was a kid and would ride my bike around the yard and it would bump around and the wind would blow threw my hair.I believe that Jim kitchen also had some racing games.
