The first time I entered this area, realized that it was possible to junk the diver's gear, I knew it was possible to soft-lock the game. Challenges like this also exist for the so highly regarded pokemon franchise games.Muhammad found a so called soft lock. Stuff like this should get eliminated during quality control. Ambitious or bored players try to find it to proove a point or just out of curiosity. Sometimes these soft locks can be solved by unconventional means. People also try to find those.For me personally it's quite amusing to hear about this soft lock. It is stuff like this that teaches game devs how to account for soft lock situations. So what Muhammad did here could be mildly educational instead of enraging.Some of the frustration palpable here might come from the Corona situation, some might come from the general frustration towards Manamon 2 itself... I don't think Muhammad deserves to get the full load of it though.Edit:What sets Muhammads challenge apart from the lazily assembled unwinnable states some others have proposed here is that it is actually a soft lock from unintentional game design. The way it's framed, there's quite literally no way out of this part unless you cheat. You can't even get to where you are in this save file unless you have something on your team that can use dive. This means that you used dive in order to get here, then got rid of every known method of getting out then saved the file. You can't use the pocket copter to get out, you don't have any daedalus dust to use to get out, You don't have any mons on the team that can use dive, you don't have the diver's gear to be equipped to a water type, there are no wild encounters in this section, and there are no teleporters that will lead you out. So, you're stuck. You can't even use trades or online battles to get you out of here. So, you're stuck. That's the answer. DING DING DING DING DING! AND THE CROWD GOES WI... oh wait, never mind... I guess it's not okay to actually have standards and to expect people to hold to them.Okay, here's a manamon 2 challenge.Beat the entire game with the following rules:1. None of your manamon can ever be higher than level 60; the instant a manamon breaks that level barrier, it must be released.2. You can't use any move with more than 60 power points, under any circumstance.3. You can't use any non-STAB move, ever, under any circumstance.4. No items in battle, except mananets.5. No trading allowed.6. If a manamon reaches 0HP for any reason, it is permanently dead and must be released. The only exception is the Chaos Ogma battle. Optionally, you may keep track of which manamon were brought to 0HP during that battle, and release them all at your earliest convenience.7. No equipment may be used or equipped. It must be left in your inventory, and may not be sold.Now, is that fun? If a random no-solution challenge is supposed to be fun because it's insoluble, does my game challenge with a considerable list of annoying impositions qualify?Also, does anyone want to play chess when all they have is their king? I promise my first five moves will be pawn moves only, to give you at least a fighting chance. No solution, no challenge.Imagine the following scenario:You load the save file. Your only manamon is a level 9 Owlaw, and you're standing in front of Master Dyaz.Problem: If you engage in combat, you will die instantly (Otherworld Abyss).Complications: You have 0 gold, no mananets and no healing items. All items that could be sold for gold have already been eliminated, such as rare jewels, flyers, encounter downs, treasure chest keys, equipment of all kinds, etc. Whoever made the save file junked everything. You have no other manamon in the PC, and the unknown gift was also released. Trading with anyone disqualifies the run and results in failure.Challenge: Since you can't leave Shadow Canyon, and since these manamon are a few levels higher than you, what do you do?Win condition: Beat Master DyazSolution: At level 9, it is possible for Owlaw to potentially kill a few of the manamon in the Shadow Canyon area itself. For instance, Minitaur, Thornub, maybe Ratsal. Backtrack out of the castle entirely and get to the manamon hotel. Get into random battles, saving often, and grind Owlaw several levels. Owlaw will probably have trouble taking down Skelitten and other higher-level Owlaw, but it shouldn't die in one hit to anything at this level. In doing this, you will very slowly gain gold. Eventually, you may have enough gold to start buying items from the marketplace. Your eventual objective is to catch a few more manamon and start grinding them as well. With a little time and effort, you should be able to put together a team that can take down Master Dyaz.Now -that is a challenge.Now imagine this scenario:You're given a save file where you have one level 1 Squirmunk, no gold and no items. There are no manamon in the PC, and the unknown gift has already been claimed. Trading with anyone will disqualify the run. You are not allowed to leave Requia without ending the run. You're stuck in the middle of Barren Underground somehow (remember, no items). Virtually any manamon you encounter will one-shot Squirmunk. What do you do?Answer: This isn't a challenge. Without straight-up cheating, it's not only impossible to make this scenario happen, but it's also impossible to win it. This is not a challenge. You may as well ask "is it possible to play chess against a grandmaster using only your king?". The answer is no. The only other potential solution - and no, I'm not gonna download the save just to test this - is to check your team, what's on it, whether anything on the team can learn Dive in its moveset. Flounger can, for instance. So if you had like a level 8 Flounger and 15 level-up herbs, I'm pretty sure that would do the trick.But yeah. If there is no diver's gear, no water manamon and/or no level-up herbs or no way to put Dive on a manamon, then congratulations; you just wasted everybody's time.
