Re: Move to UK as a visually impaired person

The hole visa situation is a bit nuts at the moment since yet again the home office have changed everything. My lady isn't pleased  while she believed she'd get a settlement visa after being here for two years on a spousal visa, which would let her get actual UK bennifits, apply to the health service etc, they've just changed the rules and now she needs to apply for an extention on her spousal visa which means another tonne of paperwork and large wodge of cash, basically for nothing but to keep the home  happy. Whats worse, is this is an online application, which is even more tortuous than the paper one we did previously. its odd, I thought that Brexit would actually help my lady's situation, what with her coming from a supposedly friendly country like the united states, and yet it seems all the checks that are meant to prevent arranged marriages and other nasty practices begun in less legally strict parts of the world are just applied to everyone, which is bonkers!

As a student doing a Masters in the UK, I can say for certain that unles you go for a degree or something, it aint happening. The masters visa does give me an additional 6 monts of visa though, which is nice.

Re: Move to UK as a visually impaired person

@Chris08, I'm afraid getting into the UK as anything more than a tourist is not easy, something I know too well since my wife is American. Firstly, if you could get a place at a UK university you could apply for a student visa, if you had a job over here you could apply for a work visa, whilst if you were married to a UK citizen like my wife you could apply for a spousal visa. All of these routes however are pretty bloody expensive and  a very long and complex legal process, soemthing which is getting even more complex since the system is all  now due to the hole Brexit business.if your still at school or going to university, your best off taking tests to apply to UK universities, since the student visa process is already setup.Lastly however, why do you want to move to the Uk anyway? And what do you want to do here? The UK isn't as good  with relations for visually impaired people as many people overseas seem to thinnk, governmental bennifits are pretty hard to come by and employers are not interested in employing blind or visually impaired people. Unless you have a really pressing reason to be in the Uk, EG place at a university or are married to someone, your best off looking for opportunities that require less legal and financial hassle.Hth.

Move to UK as a visually impaired person

Hi,I am not really sure where to post this type of question, but maybe someone can give me some hints on what direction.I want to studdy or work in the UK, but I have been in contact with a few schools near London through some intermediary in my home country, but they have not been willing to accept me as a student and assist me.So, does anyone have some tips on what I can do to get to the UK? London is not a requirement. It could also be nice to meet some other BVI people over there. Thanks a lot for any help!
