New gamebook on ffproject, Shadow in the north

The Fighting fantasy project have a new one. Where their last new gamebook was definitely an ameter affair and quite the gore fest, this one is altogether different, indeed it seems absolutely huge! about 1000 sections or so I believe. You play a sorcerer traveling into a chaotic north land in a Fantasy kingdom trying to restore the worlds magic. Dont be fooled by how short the introduction is, this one is a really major book, as long and complex as Diamond key, with really great fantasy writing, need to manage food and gold and some very interesting mechanics. One thing I particularly like is while you have a sword and the standard combat, youve also got a number of spells to use, the spells are quite unique and you need to read their descriptions carefully sinse they arent all just a one edged sword, the inferno spell for example creates two fireballs in your ha
nds, but they explode with a burst of fire that can be damaging not just to you but to those around you as well (allies included), also using a spell costs you staminer points, meaning you need to be careful with where and when you use them, and also what food youve got to restore staminer. Ive not got that far at the moment, in fact I got killed by robbers, but this is definitely a major one for those who like a really old school fantasy gamebook with evil necromancers, goblins, magic, epic quests and all that other good stuff. Ive not got that far at the moment, in fact I got killed in a battle with robbers which was pretty depressing, but this is definitely a major one for those who like a really old school fantasy gamebook with evil necromancers, goblins, elementals, roudy soldiers, epic quests, lots of gorey ways to meet your doom and all that other good stuff. Actually Ill admit its nice to see a gamebook that is so cheerful in that 80s style which the lw books have the sort of hay! Im going out to slay terrifying creatures and save the world with zero anxt and zero depressing ambiguousness sinse goblins andd powers of chaos and stuff are down right evil and need to be stopped and me
and my trusty blade are whats going to stop them! Find it here
