Honestly, i see more and more why most people opt for cloning. If a dev like tunmi gets bashed for trying to bring games to the community, even if they are pointless to some, just don't post here, and let people who really do care about giving real feedback be. @30 and @33 both made good points, and this is why the blind community is still ware it is. entitled bunch of people this community has turned out to be. All developers are different and if tunmi wants to make small games to start and learn, they are still games, and should be in new releases, not code snip its for them to be in the dev room.

Right. Long ish post coming up here.Tunmi13 wrote:No, this game didn't actually take 5 minutes to make, it took a whole week. Although I do understand your point, let me get this out there, there is goingto be an online scoreboard. But since some of us are so quick to jump to conclusions... you know what, I'm not going there. LOL.Okay. Maybe it didn't take 5 minutes. The better question is... do I care? As a customer, I care about the end product and not the time it took to develop. I may point others back to your game if it's good and make them ask you how long it took to create such a project, but most of the times I just don't care if it takes you a week, a month, or 6 years to do it.You are also boarding on begging for pity here. The first time I read your post it sounded like "But but but... Amerikranian, stop giving me negative comments because it took me an entire week to put this together!" Not gonna fly with me, sorry. Like I said, I care about the end result, and will only consider the effort when using your project as an example.Tunmi13 wrote:Apologies for double posting, but I'd also like to point out that just because of simplicity, doesn't exactly mean I made it in one sitting. I guess I now understand why developers stop producing games for the 50 percent of you who won't even give a little credit for the game actually being out there. Some expect this huge awesome Mortal Kombat game with 3D sounds and stuff, right as the developer starts developing. Is that even valid? Does that even make sense?I had a really hard time reading past the point of you talking about hours and days you've spent on the game. For me, this post is nothing but a desperate grab for pity. I also am slightly annoyed at you jumping on the "The community is so ungrateful" wagon when things get tough. Again, dude, I may appreciate the effort you've spent on the game, but releasing it at this stage was a big mistake. Also, point me to any post on this topic that says anything close to "you should have released a huge title!" Can't? Consider why, please. We want games with some thought behind them. We don't expect an RPG from somebody newTunmi13 wrote:I also heard someone saying the sounds were very poorly chosen. Rather than criticizing the sound effects, how about some respect, and explain validly about which resources I may be needing to look into. Or, maybe actually providing me some sounds. No! No no no no no no no! You can't use that argument to help your case. You've been in the developer's room plenty of times. There is a topic with a crap ton of resources for sounds sitting right at the top of the page! You had to see it given the myriad of times you've been in that area.As for providing you with sounds... Maybe someone will. Thing is, it's not our job. We may do it if we think the game deserves some improvement in that area, but that's a large maybe. Point is, don't rely on the community to provide sounds unless you specifically ask for it before the release or when the majority seem happy with what you made. Also, don't delete the topic. That's just cowardly in my eyes and wipes any potential history... for both you, me, and anyone else who has posted on here.

Re: Pizza Clicker - Produce Pizza for your Customers!

0.1 was meant to be simple, because we still are setting up the online scoreboard to work on a server. 0.2 contains workers which will click pizza for you. We did do a whole ton of work, there was actually supposed to be an achievments system, but we removed it due to some massive looping issues. We released this knowing that this criticism may happen, but our intention was for feedback, not criticism. Some of you are acting like this thing was coded so easily, with minimal issues / problems. It's a clicker game, of course it's going to be simple. When a sighted person downloads a clicker game, they tap a button on the screen over and over again. If you don't like the game, I don't see any reason to bash the devs behind it. It's not our fault about your opinion on gameplay.

Re: Pizza Clicker - Produce Pizza for your Customers!

Ok, let's get one thing straight right here. Sam, Phillip, and aprone's cases are vastly different. I'll even go out of my way to tell you exactly how.First, Sam. While sam's first games were pretty simple and short-lived on their own, Sam didn't release them one after another. He put them into game sweet, and he didn't stop developing that. he turned it into Sammy Center, which you can have quite a lot of fun with for a time.Next, Phillip. When he started developing and released things such as duck blaster and dark destroyer, guess what year it was? that's right, 2004. Back then, super liam and Troopanum were one of the most advanced games we had, and people were pretty starved for games. Duck blaster, and maybe man hunt, were the only truely simplistic games made by Phillip. All his other stuff (dark destroyer, Tarzan junior etc) were a lot more involved than this pizza clicker thing is. In fact, I still come back to dd every now and then simply because of the difficulty curve. I think I've beaten it only once or twice so far. Finally, Aprone. I can't understand how Aprone is even compared with others here. Even his very first audio game, Towers of war, was unique in the scene. It was the very first tower defense game we got, and so far, it's the only one. Tunmi, don't consider this an official write-off of your game. It has potential. It can be expanded. In its current state, it wasn't ready for release. I can't stress this enough, put alphas like this into the dev room. There's a reason Steam has Greenlight, after all.

Re: Pizza Clicker - Produce Pizza for your Customers!

@17, I don't think he should switch from BGT (hell, I still bust it out once in a while to keep it fresh). What I want is for some actual thought to be put into a game that is going to be released on here, and this ain't cutting it.@18, your point about originality and tiny projects would be true, except...All the devs you've pointed to have released games with original concepts and or reasons to keep playing.Tunmi has shown his capability to code by releasing balloon madness, a game which is simple yet unique in it's own way. This does not fulfill these categories. This game is simple... Too much so. It's simplicity drives the whole point of the game, trying to sell the product, where as BM is simple and yet still somewhat engaging. This game is NOT (Do note the capitols) unique, no matter which way you're cutting it. It is a coding exercise at best.If you disagree, tell me so, and I will make a game in which your objective is to make bricks by hitting space as fast as possible while the construction crew occasionally take those bricks away. Oh, and did I mention that you can press e to smash a brick to see how strong it is? You'll rate it from 1 to 5 with 5 being strong as diamond. Finally, some accidents may occur as you're making your bricks, causing you to lose some of them.Oh yeah, originality, baby!I repeat. I have nothing against Tunmi. I think he can code (BM proves that). I do believe that this game is nothing but an over-glorified coding exercise and should be remove from this forum or placed in the developer's room. You also mention a developer needing to prove themselves. Here's a thing: Let me be extremely blunt here.I don't give 2 shits if someone is new to the scene. I don't care if this is their first project. What I care about, however, is what the project they decide to share.Let's go back to your developer examples.Point me to a game which Sam or Philip have released to "prove themselves." Point me to a game which Aprone, another big name around here, released because he felt that he needed to establish his worthiness (the definition of proving oneself to a crowd).I'll be here, waiting for you.No? Nothing? The individuals above did not release a game because they decided to slap some program together and push it out saying "This is my new project!"Sam, Philip, and Aprone spent time ensuring that the concepts their games contain, if not totally original, were presented in a fresh light. This game doesn't, at all. Hell, I'll admit it, Mailman doesn't really, either. I'm not clear of the blame of wanting to release something. So, a developer does not need to prove him or herself.I also understand the fact that Tunmi is "new" to the developer scene, but that doesn't give him a pass when he decides to slap together an over-glorified key masher and call it a game.

Re: Pizza Clicker - Produce Pizza for your Customers!

But Haily, Tunmi has proven himself, but it seems like everyday he comes out with a new game. He can still improve this one, but the only thing stopping this game from being a success is him not improving the game. lol. Tunmi is my favourite upcomming dev, and he still takes feedback quite nicely. Tunmi, before you release stuff, you should run it by your friends. Let them give you some pointers as to what you can include so people won't be saying those things. Do that, and yule be a spectacular developer.

Re: Pizza Clicker - Produce Pizza for your Customers!

Whilst I totally understand what you guys are saying in regards to originality, I think you should at least try to be a bit more lenient with the dev given how fresh into the developing seen he still is. Just think about the amount of tiny crappy little games Philip, Sam, etc made back in the day. Everyone has to start somewhere. We need to stop turning away up and coming developers before they can even begin to prove themselves.

15 took the words right out of my mouth. A few of your recent games and projects, I.E. IDownload and this, seem like you released something just because, you can! Woohoo! You know how to code! Might I suggest that instead of slapping projects together in like 5 minutes in bgt, you might want to spend your time learning python or go or c++ or some other language, and start making games in that.

Unfortunately, I've no choice but to agree with @15. I managed to get well over 2k slices in about 3 minutes. There's no reason to play, and after that 3 minutes, i quit.

Re: Pizza Clicker - Produce Pizza for your Customers!

So I hate to be this guy but...This feels like it was a 5 minute deal. You just... mash your space key and pray that the RNG is with you. There is literally no score, no reason to play this game more than once, no real interaction besides hearing some sapi voices... the sounds were chosen extremely poorly (who would have thought that making pizzas sounded like you were typing on a keyboard)... need I say more?@Tunmi, games aren't made over night. Games aren't made because you need to release something. You don't. You are not pressured by anyone to release anything. This game has 0 ounces of originality and creativity to it, it's just an over-glorified space key masher. Please, don't go down that road. Releasing few unique games is better than releasing many quick "I slapped it together in 5 minutes" ones.

Incremental could mean several things, and the one that you were thinking was not the one I was thinking of. I defined incremental as gaining stuff over time in a constant loop, not the way you thought.Think of it this way, if someone says this is a card game, are you going to say its not a card game because it doesn't have any utilization of the cards?

An incremental would provide some form of resetting in order to gain benefits on the next run. This doesn't happen here.
