Thankfully reaper makes this really easy and I imagine there are already some of those assignations ready as downloadable files created by other users online for it.

Anyone on here actually using control surfaces? Like the fader port?Has anyone managed to figure out how to do presets where you can essentially control not only the main mixer, but instrument plugin parameters with the buttons and faders?I could probably do this in my keylab mk2 but it has a main system that isn't very accessible.Really would be cool to map my keyboard to do beats without putting my hands on the qwerty keyboard, probably impossible though.

Re: Question about reaper

Agreed with @17.  Honestly, the biggest problem you're going to encounter using reaper is that it's so massive, thus remembering everything is almost entirely impossible.  If you do your best to build yourself something of a routine productivity workflow, however, and put it to constant use, you'll find that things become more and more straightforward and before you know it you're getting simple things done in a matter of seconds rather than minutes or even hours.Save your project settings as templates, make notes on what you're tweaking and what results you produced, save your effects chains, learn reaconsole for more ease and flexibility; it all pays off.

Re: Question about reaper

keep in mind that you can also use a control surface, midi controller and tons of other things that you assign to reaper's faders and such to make mixing even easier. Its pretty much the best we have in terms of accessibility, functionality and capability at the moment, too. And, regarding fx parameters, osara does have a dialog for these also now in the mac, so things got a lot easier as well, so in very few cases you would have to do a lot of tabbing.

Re: Question about reaper

Thanks for the corrections, that's just what I have been doing, didn't know that it was a shortcut specifically to SWS. Although in my case at least, SWS is pretty essential.Reaper with Osara is very accessible on the mac. Maybe there's some small differences I personally haven't found though. Aside from being able to search for parameters in plugins on the mac side while you're in the fx window, so you can kinda jump around the plugin. Don't think that's possible on Windows.

Re: Question about reaper

Thanks, I think I will be more flexible with Reaper, it doesn't take a minute to start and I think that it doesn't need so much pc power. Yes, I have a perpetual license of Pro Tools, so I'll be flexible with it. I may not update mac os later on, because then it all gets uncompatible and I had a situation with Pro Tools that I had to downgrade my system and I went with a wrong mac os version that had issues with my audio interface, so I'll better stay with my current mac os, if I choose to deal with pro Tools, which happens if I don't like Reaper.Best regardsSteve

Re: Question about reaper

@5, yes.  Alt left and right arrow will pan left and right respectively. Alternatively, hit control shift P and press down arrow in the combo box to get to the pan parameter.  You can adjust it by tabbing in once and hitting left and righ arrow to pan it left and right respectively or, tab twice and enter a value from -100 to 100, where -100 is hard left, 0 is center and 100 is hard right.

Re: Question about reaper

You do not have to pay every year if you don't want if you own a pro tools perpetual license. I know people who stayed for years in pro tools 12... I have a perpetual license of pro tools, and turned updates off because the plan is too expensive, however if you have a perpetual license you can just turn updates off.

Hello,Thanks as of now, yes, I am currently using a mac for this, but I'm planning to use a windows machine with Reaper, which should even work without latency problems, because of a focusrite audio interface. Is there a keystroke similar what you wrote about in post 3 where you can use a slider or enter a volume level for a track also for the panning?Best regardsSteve

Re: Question about reaper

Correction: control shift up and down apply to sws. If that plugin is not properly installed who knows what you might actually end up with.   Alt and the arrow keys will make fine adjustment to the selected track.  Adding the shift key would apply them to the master track regardless of what else may be selected.  This is of the greatest importance, since you can have a ton of tracks all outputting to the master track on which you can edit volumes across separately, but if you apply them to the master track you're going to end up with that volume on all of your tracks and that will be entirely reflected in your final mix/render.

Control shift arrows only works with SWS, alt up and down works no matter what. Another way is control shift P then to volume and tab to adjust the slider or once more to input a value.

Question about reaper

2020-07-24 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : mikerschs2 via Audiogames-reflector

Question about reaper

Hi guys,I am currently trying to find myself a good and not too expensive solution to record, edit and mix stuff; I am thinking about implementing Reaper in my plans. As of now, I worked with logic and pro tools, mainly with Logic, but in some situations with pro tools. But I came to the opinion that paying every year for these pro tools update plans is too expensive for me, also the system needs lots of computer power. In both programs I have mixer views in which I can choose the volume and panning of each track which is in the daw. This is quite useful if I just begin mixing something, because I can just start playing the project and move around the single tracks in its volume and panning to optain a certain mix I can use as a reference to later on improve the sound with some automation. Is there a way in Reaper to easily change volume and panning of a single track? It would really help me to decide wether Reaper is a solution for me or not. I listened to lots of tutorials showing me how to do editing in Reaper, and I even played around with this a little bit, but I couldn't find many resources about mixing and stuff.Best regardsSteve Greiner
