Thanks, I did see that, but I was trying it wrong.  APpreciated very much.  Now, I have this figured out, so far anyways.   Much happier with it than my Sonar project for a few reasons.

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

I think this should be the last question I have for Reaper, seeing asI got everything else figured out already and have recorded a new song in it, ut there's something I'm stumped on.FIrst of all, I have the following tracks1. Speech intro2. samples3. Drums4 folder Guitars5 Guitar Left6. Guitar Right7. Bass guitarI want the bass guitar to not be included with the guitars folder but don't want to move it's location from under them.  I tried ungrouping, but it stays in the folder.  Additionally, any new track I add  goes into the folder automatically.   ANy suggestions?

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

Here's what I do.In preferences,  under vst, I have it set to running  plugin per process or whatever it is, and the window floats or is in "bridge mode".    That way it's always the first window that opens up when I install a VST.I have gotten a lot of things done today with this and am much happier tus far with Reaper.Yeah, SIBIAC has been used in Sonar for abouta year or so  independantly, but with it being attached to Reaper, it will definitely open up some grounds.  IT's kind of the only reason I haven't fully jumped ships yet.  Although I'm using this time to kinda learn Reaper inside and out and once SIbiac is brought over, it will definitely open up some doors.  WOrth noting and I forgot to mention that Addictive Keys will be added as well.  I also would not be surprised if we can do more than four instruments per Kontakt instance, since it seems like it'd be possible?  Not sure what the physical window looks like, but we shall see.

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

hi flackersyou should install the 64 bit one, because reaper does have bridging support so you can use 32 bit plug-ins . It always will show (x86) after the name if the vst you use is a 32 bit version.Regarding the focusing of the window, its really up to you. Before adding the fx you can configure reaper and tell it to run on a separate window, or on the same window (floating) and if you run it on a separate window at least when using NVDA I always get focus when i open the fx chain using f on the track.

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

Is there a quick way to open the window of vsts? At the moment I hit f on a track, then alt f, followed by w to float the window, but for some reason I always have to do this second part twice. Doesn't seem very efficient. Is there another way to do it, and does anyone know why I have to do alt f then w twice?

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

I do want to include controls for Kontakt 5 in SIBIAC.  Sibiac  (Single Image Blob Interface Accessible Control) allows for control of:Addictive Drums 2NI Absynth 5NI Guitar Rig 5Cakewalk Studio Instruments bundleCakewalk Dimension ProBehringer X-Touch EditorThe AZ Controller software in progress will allow physical control surface manipulation and additionally will also allow for possible fx parameter control remapping within the hardware so you can careate your own set of controls for each of your favorite plugins, This setup worked great with Sonar X3  and I think SIBIAC will be the first thing to migrate over to Reaper since it's probably easier and we can use OSARA  with this and have better control value.AZ Controller allowed me to use  a Behringer X-Touch Compact with SAPI5 to manipulate and have accessibility with SOnar X3.  The same can be said for any game controller, and in my case the PS4 controller via USB to the PC.    Hopefully, and I don't see why it wouldn't, we can definitely get this setp in Reaper.  The guy who programmed this stuff knows what he's doing and I generally am just the main tester with the software.AZ Controller Benefits:Clipping indication per trackLevel of selected trackJog wheel by beat, bar or markerFX Parameter control and remappingQuick FX parameter settings (Allows you to control up to 8 encodeer based parameter settings on the fly without changing control modesIntegrated Help function.  THis wil allow you to know what each fader, button, and encoder does  if you forgot, without corrupting your project.FX Tree navigation for install (VST3, VST2, DFX)Immediate send controlQuick in/out selection per strip/track/busBasically this setup allowed me to control up to 8 strips per bank in order, at a time.  Hopefully, this setup will be easily migrated over and everything will be  close to, if not the same.     I will keep everything updated  on these forums.  RIght now, the guy has a lot going on, so he's not able to help me with this setup right now.  HOpefully that will change soon, though.

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

After doing a quick test on my desktop pc, I've decided to install reaper on my music laptop. It's 64bit. After ironcross's post, I wonder if I should install the 64 or 32bit version? All my VST's are in the standard program files not the x86. I don't know how many of them are 64bit versions. I feel I should install the 64bit version of reaper, but am wondering what the issue is with vst windows?

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

By the way, if anyone knows, or comes across the key that unfocuses the plugin window, let me know, I know there is one, but after looking through the action list, obviously not the whole thing as its immense, but yeah, my searches came up empty. There's a reverb plugin I use called omniverb, and it gets stuck in that window, forcing me to use object nav to click something else. Yeah I installed x64 reaper and not x86 so the bridge thing causes problems, but whatever, I don't like 32 bit versions of stuff, they're slower.

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

make sure that people not using control surfaces can do the same. If you could add kontakt for the NVDA thing that'd be great, since currently there's really no way other than OCR, and OCR really doesn't like to find things like the load button! A synth I'd recommend is sylenth1, it's a subtractive synth with a 16 step sequencer, builtin chorus, distortion, phaser, compressor, EQ and reverb, two osc banks with 2 oscs each, independent filters for each bank, LFO supporting tempo syncing or free operation, and modulation ability to have most things control other things, such as mod wheel, key track, LFO states, ADSR, or mod based envelopes controlling pitch, phase, pan, filter cutoffs, LFO rates, etc. It's really a great thing. You know what's even better? While the synth's screen may not be accessible to keyboard, every parameter in the synth is in the list, and labeled, and they even did the sliders labeling right! And if you don't like designing patches, there's absolute loads of presets in jsut the factory bank alone, or you can get other fxb's that give you even more capabilities!

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

Hi,So with the neew windows 10 nvda OCR, plugins are more useable.1. I mostly use Omnisphere2, Nexus2, Electrax, or adictive Keys.I think you can get all though sounds from Omnisphere2 or Kontakt.2. For Hip hop and electronic music, I use the 3 that I said, plus drum samples. But all in all, the Nvda ocr is what really what makes everything work, since without it Omnisphere would be completely useless and you could only browse presets in Nexus. If you have any questions feel free to contact me on twitter at the following linkhttps://twitter.com/spazthebeat

Re: Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

Most of the time, you cannot interact with plugins through the effects menu, so once its added, you have to hit P to go to the parameters thing and everything is in there. Some plugins are not good about labeling stuff, so it can be interesting to find what you need, but most of the time, its not bad. You arrow up and down the list, and then tab to edit. Dunno about instruments, I'm sort of a light user, and have really only done like scene building and stuff of that nature.

Quick help/questions for Reaper users and VST

Okay, so I've been making the slow transition of migrating from Sonar X3 to Reaper, but I am left with some thought/questions.1. What VST instruments do you guys use, and where can I find NVDA scripts for them, if needed?   I am looking for stuff that does orchestral/concert sounds like a string section, brass, woodwind, and percussion.2. Any electroical synths to create hiphop or dance stuff would be good too.  3. The  SIBIAC plugin for NVDA will cover Addictive Drums 2, Addictive Keys, GUitar Rig and Absynth 5 when it's migrated over to Reaper.  Not sure when I will be able to get that going since I'm at the mercy of someone else on that one.If someoen can point some ideas to me, that'd be great.  Thank you guys.   I have to admit, I feel like such a noob now, and like I'm learning a new language all over again, haha.    All my music recording is at a standstill until the migration is complete.
