When I downloaded the apk you provided, it opens some weird application that says a bunch of stuff about repositories. What do I do from here? I thought this was an ftp client. Re: Anyone know of an accessible ssh program for Android? When you open the ES File Explorer app, flick once to the right. You will get this long press and drag message. Do the back gesture (down and left in a single motion) about 2 times. Then, either put your device in landscape orientation or double tap on the unlabeled button in the top left corner of the screen near, but not tuching the status bar. Move your finger down the left side of the screen until you hear network. double tap and flick until you hear remote manager then double tap. Finally, you will get a screen that says you can manage your device through your pc after turning on service, then, move your finger to around the center of the screen, double tap on the turn on button, which does not show in the flick order. This will show your devices IP address which you can connect to in the finder as an ftp server. Hope this helps. Re: Anyone know of an accessible ssh program for Android? check out ES File explorer, it has a remote manager function that will turn your device into an ftp server, its a little wierd with explore by touch, for example, you have to do a lot of actual moving around with your finger rather than flicking... flicking works but not in all areas. Alternatively, if youre more into techy stuff, you can root your device to enable adb over network and install the aafm package from the aur if you use arch to view your entire filesystem over the air. If youre looking to control your device over the air, which is the main purpose of ssh, you will have to root, install the adb over network app, start it, and then assuming you installed the android sdk or just the platform tools and those executables are in your path, run adb connect and the ip that your device gives you, then run adb shell to start a command line session. You can also run adb push and adb pull and the abso lute path to give or get files from your device. I cant find any options and half the time I move my finger around the screen, talkback just clicks and reports nothing.As for your other suggestion, I dont really want to do that. THe idea was to be able to view and manage the file system of my device over the air using wi-fi on my mac. I dont want ot use WIndows or Linux or what ever you were talking about using the terminal or android SDK. HOnestly, I dont get why THe device cant show up as a drive when connected to the mac using USB. What do they use, some WIndows specific driver? It wouldnt surprise me. Im so sick of Windows being the dominant OS for everything. Oh well..Any suggestions on how to set up an ftp server using this ES file explorer or someo ther app from the play store?
