Re: Converting audible books to mp3

Inaudible is indeed the dog's bollocks. Or more specifically, ffmpeg (which it uses internally) is. Once you have your activation secret, you can perform a lossless decryption of your Audible books; the resulting files are .m4b which then play in iTunes and are basically just unencrypted MPEG4 containers containing AAC data. You might follow this thread for why DRM is bad, how I overcame it with the aid of some nice people on here, and also, now that DRM is no longer a problem on Audible, how much more I actually enjoy the service ...

I haven't actually used it yet, but I did grab the link that someone posted a while ago. The version I have is 0.71. I'm not sure if there is a newer one now.

Re: Converting audible books to mp3

Here is how to convert audible audiobooks to MP3.Normally, the Audible audiobooks are formatted as AA, AAX, AAX+. But all of them are DRM protected. So if you want to convert the AAX to MP3 or AA to MP3, you need to remove the DRM first. (Apple Music Converter can do a perfect job for you)

Re: Converting audible books to mp3

Hi,This is really unfortunate. I know of ways that it can be done, but have still to try one which seems like the easyest but requires xp.@Chris,I am not converting to get a better compression I dont really care about that, but as I said my mp3 player does not support playback of .aa files.I dont really like audio that much, and prefer ebooks which I can read with eloquence much better, but audible seems to have some really nice stuff, and some of their narraters arent that bad, either. Its the drm which is a pain in the ass.grryfURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=177691#p177691

Re: Converting audible books to mp3

hello everyone,I am going to try to write down the steps for you to cnvert the .aax to mp3.1 get your hands on a coppy of tuneclone.2 install the program.if everything went correctly you now have a virtual burner and tune clone in your ststem tray.3 import the .aax into iTunes by opening the program and with ctrl+o add the .aax file in the library. add the user details for the file if prompted.4 go the audiobook and when you are standing on it press ctrl?shift?n to create a new playlist with the book included.5 go to the music and press the checkbox for playlists. tab around until you are standing on the playlist and press the application key or rightmouse button to get to the context menu.6 select the burn playlist to disk option and select the virtual burning in the burn settings. also make sure that the silence is set to non and that use use an audio cd format. lastly do not forget to use the tags so that tuneclone can name and n
umber the files for you.7 if you have done and checked all this press ok and wait until all the disks are burned.tip: if the book is longer that 11 hours orso burn it in peaces from 10 hours by moving the start and end time of the file from 00:00:00 to 10:00:00 then move it to 10:00:00.001 to 20:00:00 etc.ope this helps if there are any questions just ask.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=177728#p177728

One solution which always has worked for me is using a program like Total Recorder to capture the output from the software.Newer versions of Total Recorder can even record from a particular application (.exe).URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=177735#p177735

Re: Converting audible books to mp3

First of all, there really isnt a way to convert from one lossy format to another without losing information. When this was a concern for me and I still cared, Id convert to FLAC, which was of course a monstrous waste of space. My long-term advice: dont buy anything valuable on Audible. I know its a pain, but this is DRM and you know how I feel about DRM, dont you? URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=177629#p177629

Re: Converting audible books to mp3

Hi.Audible uses that format to protect their content.I dont think there is any way to convert the file.Have you checked to see if your player is supported by audible? If it is, just use audible manager to authorize your player.Actually, I dont know why you would want to convert audible books to mp3, since they have a really good compression on them.Does anyone know how this good compression is accomplished?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=177639#p177639

Re: Converting audible books to mp3

Hi.And thats why I dont buy audible.I have audible on my system, got a book.Read it.it was part of a free trial.Read the book, and then killed it.Audible is drm, and you need to have a device that runs their stuff if I had more than the single laptop I may have even stuck with it perinately as its really good. However I also am not going to use them or any of the amazon stores that do audio books unless they are on cd for the simple reason that their protected formats limit you to a sertain device, and hardly any device for the blind has the capability to play them a computer does, but what the use is that.An ipad does but am I really going to spend all day every day reading books, nope.Besides there is no way to mark your place, and I have daizy books from the library which are saved and well I have bookshare and an account for my library to download digital books so dont need audible. What Id
do if you want a book is either get it from the library and wrip it and keep it or use their online stores some use overdrive.some stuff you can keep some you have to return and expire butt some you can buy and depending on your membership you may get reduced prices.I regret spending the cash on audibleURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=177658#p177658
