My guess is that once the updated engine comes out, all Philip will have to do is release an updated bgt build that includes this version of the engine, then anyone with games that utilize Elias, right now the current listing is psyco strike, the gate, the Cube game, and Theif, will simply need to recompile their games in this new build of bgt when it comes out. No further work is needed for xp compatibility from then on. Re: New game from Oriol Gómez, Thief, is here! Sneak, it's not Oriol's fault, and I'm not blaming him. I have nothing against his using this build of bgt. But since there are still some xp users out there including me, I think it's necessary to get Elias to work under xp. Btw, no offense to windows 7 and up users, but enjoy I guess you're fine with adware. Unless you've turned off windows update, windows 7 and up got the same spyware treatment embedded in windows10. Read up on it, it's true. Of course, it all happens behind the scenes, just like Microsoft wants it, but we know and we're spreading the word. That, is one of the reasons I don't use 7 at all and refuse to use it until Microsoft gets a kick in the ass with some lawsuits. But back on topic. Oriol doesn't need to do any modifying of the game to run under xp, all that needs to happen is that Philip, or Elias, needs to update their engine to addi n xp support. You're choosing to use an OS that's over 10 years old. There have been advancements with programming, and he chooses to use the engine because it probably saves him a lot of work. The fact that he's even spending time to provide games for you all to play free of charge is more than you can demand. Choosing to use XP and asking him to recode this game and any other game so it works with XP is just nonsensicle. You choose to use XP, so you choose to accept the limitations that come with that. Can't force your decision on other people. Xp is not obsolete, and they don't have to listen to Microsoft's sissy words about it being obsolete. I imagine a lot of mac users using it on their vm's because it's incredibly lightweight unlike windows7, and can run 24-7, even on an external hdd if only to sacrifice a slight bit of performance in the process. Sure, lots of people may be on windows7, but I'm sorry, it's no excuse to leave the other users behind. But then again, updated technology leaves users behind anyway. I know I'm bringing this up in the topic of a particular game, but since this game is run with the help of Elias, I might as well. There's only a few reasons why I would ever upgrade to 7, because, all the apps that I use work with xp. Gold wave doesn't have the loopback speakers option on xp, skype works, the latest version of firefox works, NVDA, obviously works, almpst all audio games work on it, Office 2010 works with it, and yeah. I would only upgrade to 7 to get loopback speakers on gold wave, and to play games that use the engine. It's something with visual studio and xp. There is definitely a strategy, and button mashing won't necessarily help you because of the fact that you will lose time if you miss too many safes. It's not about being the fastest but you don't want to go slow either.This game is certainly different to lockpick, yes you are breaking open safes but you have to use a different way of figuring things out.
