I'd also say give the guy some time. I think the reason why pthe app is flagged as a virus, is due to the fact that pyinstaller does some weird kind of shit with the compilation... with a covid tracking app, a friend and i descovered that the app was also flagged, I think at the end of the day he managed to fix pyinstaller not to get flagged... idk i am not to sure.

I reread the post, I apologize for calling you out. I would say give him more time to adjust to python. Maybe he will start doing things differently, we all know that the transition is huge. He's going to make a few fuck ups in the beginning, and sometimes he may make stupid choices like an early release due to the stress of the transition. Wait for his next or third project where he has had a bit more experience with python, he ain't a bgt boy no more. Then you can give him motivation, but I see you 2 aren't on good terms so fix that if you want him to actually be motivated.PS I haven't talked with him much, so I don't know his habits and I am not defending him, but I think making the bgt transition deserves some slack in the very beginning. Also what do you mean you were prepared to change things if you had been? Do you mean your behavior towards people ,or change the toxicity on the forum? Or both

Why is that too far? What about it is wrong? How will he ever learn if everyone ignores his shortcomings? What motivation does he have to push him forward if no one gives it to him? How does surrounding himself with yes men do him any favors? Parts of it may be a bit harsh, but he just doesn't listen. he keeps doing bad things and making mistakes that cascade into bigger mistakes. But you know, I think he could be good if he cut the crap and focused on learning instead of acting like he knows everything already.I don't do fake images. I am how I am, and I didn't lie in that application. I didn't think I would be accepted, but I was prepared to change the way I did things if I had been.

Cross, your old behavior is coming back. Personally I think you were just putting on a fake image during moderator applications. REgardless, you know you went way too far in post 17. It's the guy's first project in a mainstream language. He needs time to fix his mistaks. I know for a fact I'm going to screw something up in my first python release, most devs with their first project probably do. Yes I agree he could have waited until a few more things were ironed out like having the voice move with the ragetaker, but you have to cut him slack for the first project, and maybe even the second, depending on how much has improved in both the last version, and the new material in the second version.

While I agree here that windows defender can give out false alerts at times. You should keep an eye out on what it actually detects. Also you don't necessarily have to use windows defender as your default anti virus. By the way I found out today that I had my computer infected with the jeefo virus . I was ignoring windows defender for a munth because I thought it was targeting the bgt games I have on my computer. But as soon as I started paying attention to the threats history. I figured there was something wrong. I used Malwarebytes to deal with it. Well I'm sorry to go off topic after all

And this is why BGT is so bad. I mean, are y'all seeing this? Users have folders for games that are "good," and so when they get a new one that throws this pesky anti-virus warning, welp let's put this in the good folder. This is literally teaching people to disregard virus warnings. This is just... I just think this should be remembered.

Re: Ragetaker Returns! - RagePillow 0.1 (Python Release)

@Meetbag actually, no, not really. Cython compiles Python to C, which gets compiled to ASM. So there's actually no Python code in the .pyd files that Cython generates. It also generates C files but i normally just delete them. The pyd files are the actual Cythonized code, or ASM and machine instructions. So you can get the games code threw pyd files? Technically, yes. But just the logic, and not even a lot of that, as a lot of the grunt work is handled by Python, anyways.

Re: Ragetaker Returns! - RagePillow 0.1 (Python Release)

Uh... No. You can not decompile Cython, not to native Python code, at least. Sure you can get C or ASM instructions but hard to understand ones. Here's how I do it. I have a file called main.py, that just imports all the modules (Cython does not do explicit imports) EG, if you import lucia, and lucia imports pygame, Cython will still need you to import pygame. I have a file with my imports and that calls the main function that's in another file. That is the most raw Python people will be able to get out of Cythonized code. No, no system is perfect, and if you want extra protection you can download the Python source code and scramble some bytecodes, but what's honestly the point? It would stop most people, but if someone who knows how comes along they can break it in a matter of 20 minutes. So yeah. Just use Cython.

@15@16, everything packed can be unpacked, everything locked could be locked, every thing compiled can be decompiled, useing cython just makes it hard enough so it will be just dont worth it to bother decompiling

Re: Ragetaker Returns! - RagePillow 0.1 (Python Release)

Because you cythonize the logic and end up with 10K+ lines of compiled C and your entry point is still python, but since it's very minimal and it's like import this junk and run this crap, it's nothing to worry about.Bro, have you learned nothing from all of this BS and BTS and Air Puck stuff? You put this game out here in it's very preliminary stages, acting like it's a strong release candidate when it's missing features and things aren't working properly. This is what's going to stop you from becoming a good developer. Not only do you not learn from your mistakes, you're blissful in your ignorance of things that are merely a search away. Why do you do these things?I totally get where Mohamed is coming from regarding you. You can't be reasoned with, you blithely go on like you know everything until you bumble your way into a major road block, then cry out how you couldn't have known, why should you have known, people are telling you things left and right and you don't know what's true. But for all of that, I rarely see posts from you in the dev room - which is fair enough, and is your prerogative- but then this happens. Now you have a release out there that is easily decompiled and they'll have your code in a matter of minutes. Oh well, it couldn't be your fault could it? Nah, no way, that's simply impossible!I don't even know why I keep trying with you. Why do I keep banging my head into a brick wall? Maybe it's because I see potential in you? Because I do you know. Maybe because I feel that you could actually do something if you stopped with the attitude and started taking responsibility for what you do and the mistakes you make? Maybe it's because with a bit of work on yourself and then some work getting your ducks in a row, you could actually be a halfway decent developer. But you don't do the things necessary to get there. You have the logic though, I see that. You have something I don't, and it's something that will let you go further than I have, because you have an aptitude for understanding these things, whereas with me, it's always a struggle. maybe I see a little of myself in you, before life ran me through the mill and spit me out.But really, I shouldn't care because you don't seem to care. You say you do but your actions tell a different tale. If I had to guess, I'd say that coding is an escape for you. It's such an escape that all you care about is coding, even if it's bad code or buggy code or unorganized code or whatever. Just the act of sitting down and writing it releases you from life's death grip long enough to give you a chance to breathe. That's fine if it's true, but making games ain't just about coding, it's about debugging, testing, designing and polishing until you've got something you can be proud of.Are you proud of what you've done so far? Because all you seem to care about is that something is done. It doesn't matter if it's done well or correctly, just that it's done. Have you never felt that rush of accomplishment when something really comes together just the way you hoped? If so, I feel sorry for you and hope that someday, you will get that chance. If so, do you know that you are actively denying yourself that pleasure by continuing to fumble the ball? What do you get out of making games? Because from your end, I'm struggling to see what that is. You're aimless, without direction and flying like a moth from light source to light source. Before you get caught up in a flame too strong for you to get out of, make a pact with yourself to stop going down the known path and start blazing your own trails.

Based on what I just read, even by Cythonizing your code, people are still going to be able to get their hands on your code. So I ask this, what is the point.

if you only use pyinstaller your code can be decompiled no matter what flags you put, you need cython to make it undecompileable

Re: Ragetaker Returns! - RagePillow 0.1 (Python Release)

--windowed and --win-private-assemblies are two very, very different things my friend. --windowed makes it not show a console, and --win-private-assemblies bundles your modules so that people don't have to have Python installed. Cython is what makes your code decompileable. It turns Python code into native C. Which you would've found out by, as you've said you've been told to do, use Google. It exists for a reason. I honestly hate to be that guy but what those flags do is simply A search away/

Just going to pop in here and say that there is a python library called just update and it can be found at https://pypi.org/project/JustUpdate/  This is a native auto updater for python and I thought it could be useful especially because it get's kinda annoying to go back to the link every time. Hope this helps.

Re: Ragetaker Returns! - RagePillow 0.1 (Python Release)

Hi. I know some people might be annoyed with the console that opens up before the application, in the case of py installer, you can hide it by adding the -w argument before the file name your converting to exe. I noticed that the speech of the ragetaker is stationary, meaning that he can get passed his own voice which is making it sound a bit weird. I'd also make the player walk a bit faster since if you didn't catch up with the ragetaker at first you'd have to wait a while for him to return, as for selecting weapons, it's a matter of getting used to it, but I guess a lot of people would be wanting them to be the numbers like their used to. Thanks for the game after all, glad to see more people learn different programming languages.
