I am one of these people maybe, I do thinks like hahahahaksdfhasdkjfhasfkj when laughing at my friend in game, or something like damntitjkasflkjasfkl when I failed or whatever. I am ok with that kind of spammers though as long as their not doing it so much, and without a good reason. I jut find it works for me. other people might not like it, but I find it nice to have the bare essentials and not much else. it really, really helps with coding, because you don't get all that fancy inflection and that. speeds up the work process a ton. Re: Why the spam on online games? @11: how did you do that?@everyone else: yes, the spamming is anoying beyond measure, especially in games like undead assault where, for example, you fight zombies with all your meit as to not get killed and not lose reputation etc, and suddanly, your eloquence(eSpeak rarely these days), is spewing random characters or outright crashes, and, because of the time it takes for nvda to restart, you died killed by zombies and no one is near to revive you so you have to wait untill someone gets the chance to be near you to do it, while you are absolutely out of control with energy, wanting to battle more zombies. Do you know the sentiment?but not all spam is necessarly bad and anoying, of course when doing it multiple times in a row they can become so, but generally not. Some of them are quite funny, for example that balls thing... lol. Re: Why the spam on online games? Having spoken from personal experience, yes. I'd say boredom, attention seeking, not sure how to respond, ETC. I used to do this myself though I like to think I've grown in maturity ten-fold since my register in midish-2017. I feel like the fact that you're hiding behind a computer plays a role here. You probably wouldn't do this in real life, definitely not to the full extent of online spamming, so it's done because offenders don't have people to yell at them in real life about it. They're not really going to get into trouble (not hugely anyway) so I guess they don't have a reason to stop unless they're a repeat offender. In that case, you'd hope a kicking/banning system would be put in place to handle those types of issues. BSG's done a couple of articles on why these types of expressions are used online. I thought they were quite interesting and worth the read, so you can find them here and here. These articles specifically give detail on phrases like "balls" and animal sounds though simple spamming is also covered.
