Re: a list of combat muds that are not baced off of diqu Admittedly, Alter shared a lot of common skills/spells with Diku, and the syntax was pretty similar, so I suspect people could be forgiven if they assumed it was actually derivative, especially at first. It's evolved hugely since then, though. Re: a list of combat muds that are not baced off of diqu To clear up any misconceptions: Alter Aeon is not a DikuMUD, nor was it based on any other codebase. Dentin created it himself. He emulated a lot of familiar Diku features because the MUD he used to play, Hidden Worlds, used the Merc codebase, which was derived from Diku. When Hidden Worlds went offline, Dentin missed it. He decided to make his own MUD, incorporating features he enjoyed from Hidden Worlds. Flexible survival has vastly different combat mechanics to pretty much any other game I've seen. and of course cosmic rage has a pretty unique combat system both for space and ground combat.
