Could be better hard drive, better CPU (and no, you can't just compare two CPU frequencies and know--the lower clock rate can be faster depending on other factors), could be faster ram, could be that the kinds of things you do at home feel faster because you've got better internet at home, the list goes on and on.The official minimum Windows 10 requirements are 1GB for 32-bit processors and 2GB for 64-bit ones. But Firefox, Chrome, etc. and a screen reader will easily eat an additional 1 GB without even thinking about it, so you're going to be at 3 minimum. There is overhead to a VM. You will want to do more (presumably) than run a browser and a screen reader. So I'm afraid to say that people are right and you probably can't win this one, or if you do it will be the technical sort of winning where it starts and then isn't really usable enough that you ever bother using it.I'd upgrade to Windows 10 if you can. It should run everything fine and the accessibility is good. If you have a solid state drive, you will be more well off than an hdd but 4gb of ram might be mildly painful to Windows 10. 8gb is an optimal minimum nowadays, and even cheap/second hand machines have it nowadays so there isn't all that much standing in your way.
