I don't have any problems if you do a mager change which may take the game out of being lucky cop, or out of being a copy of lucky cop. BTW. I have included a credit text in the read me file. Those people helpped the project and their name should, be included and they have to get credits. Please, give back the credits, and at least when you post such a thing, type the main developer's name at the top of your post, that people know what they are downloading. As Ironcross and Bashu both said, it's a fine way to start and not a problem in itself, indeed I'm a bit disappointed that people seem to have rather over reacted on this issue. @Kianoosh, I can understand why your upset in terms of not recieving credit on your hard work with Lucky cop, that is fair enough. I would suggest writing a readme to let people know that if they use your code in the future you are credited, and also letting people know you'd like any games created with your code to differ significantly from lucky cop. Of course, such things are good nettiquette, and I think had Fungamer17 mentioned he'd used your code and let us know what differences horror of death has from lucky cop there wouldn't be a problem, but perhaps you could write some conditions down to make thin gs clearer for developers just starting out.To everyone else, I really don't think this is a major deal, just a mix up in communications. While as I said I do think Fungamer17 perhaps should've let people know that the game used lucky cop as a basis in the first place and also given a list of differences and additions he's made to the game to distinguish it from lucky cop, I do think some of the responses here have been a bit too harsh.Usually this forum is a friendly place, especially to developers just starting out, so might I suggest we try and keep it that way even if someone makes a miner mistake in judgement. It's just common courtesy that if you derive something from a resource or resources belonging to someone else, even if that is publically available, it is the polite thing to do. There is actually no rule here about people not creating original games using open source source code. Ultrapower clones were banned, but that is because the developer of the game, Mason Armstrong requested as much, and since kianoosh hasn't specifically stated that source code of Lucky cop is not to be used, there isn't explicitly a rule on this forum against people doing so, indeed it might as kianoosh himself said be a good way for programmers starting out to experiment, just as Philip Bennifall intended with the Bgt example games from Blastbay.That being said fungamer17, it is usually polite if you've used someone else's code to note as much in the first post, plus that way people will be more certain to know what they're getting, had you stated that the game was based on Lucky cop and noted the changes you'd made to the code or the gameplay additi ons you included to make the game different from Lucky cop, it's likely you wouldn't be accused of making a cloned game. As I said, example using source code is not a problem so long as you create something originally of your own and acknolidge other people's work. I'll now ask people to please relax and stop jumping down other's thoats. As I said, ultrapoer was a special case due to Mason's wishes, but the more people get hetup about clones, the less you encourage actual developers. Everyone has to sttart somewhere, which is why we allow posting of example games and the like to get feedback from players. if however players are witch hunting every developer who starts with example practice games using other's source code, then it's not likely many people will be encouraged to begin development. For example, Fungamer17's remark that he has been working on the game for a long time probably means just what it s ays and has nothing to do with the origin of the Lucky cop code, even though he should've acknolidged the code's source as I said. @Ishen again, please stop throwing around accusations and let moderators do their jobs, since your ranting just makes volatile situations even worse. Most situations are a little more complicated than just one person doing something wrong, and having a constant go at anyone who has offended you or is against what you think the rules are really doesn't help and will simply turn this forum into a warzone, just report the post and things will be dealt with, as I'm doing now. Re: horror of death - new awsome shooting game released Greetings all.I wouldn't recommend jumping as it makes you go to 0 3; you cannot move after that. Other than that, a nice fun game. I don't know how to interact with the telephone. Now I've interacted with it a little more, I've noticed that there are different environments in a single map. My favorite being the indoor ones. There's an indore area at 703 0. You also get a grappling hook you can use with G I think but it doesn't grab onto anything. For some reason, R makes you commit suicide but not sure why. You also get money but there doesn't seem to be any way to spend it.Kind regards, Amin Abdullah.
