Re: i want softvoice tts for n v d a hey i just thought of something for keynote gold. perhaps the easiest solution would be to just add it to the free speechHub addon? the reason for my thinking is this... keynote gold was made for 16 bit possibly 32bit windows98 systems. so we may need a server running in the background that 1. if keynote is still a demo first loads keynote gold then freezes the demo timer and 2. the server pretends to be an older system but just emulates the parts needed to run keynote gold and let NVDA communicate with it. However, it has controll over voicing, frication, and aspiration gain. The volume slider controlls all 3 of these at once. Edit: I figured out how to add sliders for voice settings. Voicing, frication, and aspiration gain are now separate sliders. I also added vowel factor and perturbation control. Tried this and it worked, but I can't disable it unless I'm using only Soft Voice, because I'm always, and will be ever turning auto language switching on, since I need it as I use English in conjunction with Arabic, so both should be working at the same time. I could, however, enjoy Soft Voice by disabling the thing. Thanks a lot guys, I really didn't think I have to turn it off, but my question is: Why do I have to do so? Why doesn't it read when auto detect is on? Whenever selected from the speech synthesizers, it, just doesn't do anything, NVDA works fine, you can open voice settings and everything, but the voice doesn't read. This was, and is still the case, from the first day the add-on was released. Other friends I know also have the same problem. There was a version for a while circulating that was completely broken, but if you now get it either from Jake's site, jeff's site or My dropbox it definitely works fine. Also here's a link to a modified SymbolsEn file that will let you pass commands to SoftVoice. https://www.dropbox.com/s/eapx6wepm6czh … .dic?dl=1. After you download it, place it in your config directory, usually c:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\nvda, and overwrite the file that's already there. Then restart NVDA. You could use this text to test if SoftVoice commands are working. {{voice male}} I am {{voice oldwoman}} switching voices in the {{voice nerd}} middle of a {{voice martian}} sentence. Also while you're at it, head over to c:\program files(x86\nvda and delete the file named builtin.dic. Then you could send commands like {{f0range 4000}} this funny command that makes SoftVoice sound very animated.
