Re: java access bridge with NVDA?

LibreOffice by itself doesn't really need java nor access bridge to work. There might still be some specific situations where there's a need for it, but generally not.

Re: java access bridge with NVDA?

It certainly does! I'm using intelli J idea for a java class, which requires the Java access bridge to even be accessible. I have a 64Bit version of Java installed, but a 32Bit version of NVDA, it was 2017.3. I had to upgrade to 2020.3, a 64Bit version, to get it to work, but it certainly does.@1, to check to make sure, go to NVDA menu>tools>view log, and then make sure there are no errors there about being unable to load the Java access bridge. I forget the error itself since I haven't encountered it in so long, but if everything is working correctly, you should see something like:INFO - core.main (13:34:37.139) - MainThread (7076):Java Access Bridge support initialized

I don't think java access bridge works anymore with NVDA.

so what i should do?  uninstall the 64 and reinstall the 32? or just  try to get the 32bit version?the main  problem is i  don't have a way to know if it is working or not, because of  i don't know much about java and libre office yet.

NVDA requires 32-bit JB as far as I know.

Re: java access

You won't get access to 64 bit java apps because NVDA isn't technically 64 bit, though it sort of is in a weird way hybridized. So, even with the java access bridge, you only get 32 bit apps working.

Re: java access

Please note that if you are using NVDA, you must use the 32-bit Java runtime. For Windows 7 and later, you can enable the Java Access Bridge from the Ease of Access control panel. Alternatively, you can use jabswitch.exe to enable it manually, by going to the bin directory in your Java installation and typing jabswitch.exe /enable.

I actually tried to do this back in August of 2018 so I could use LibreOffice, but ended up using Microsoft Word because it wasn't reading the comments my editor had left behind.

Re: java access bridge doesn't work with screen readers

This will not work for java versions later than Java SE8 / JDK 8, since NVDA does not have builds for 64-bit and so cannot communicate with the JAB after Java 8.

It should appear in the Ease of Access Center on Windows 8 and later, or you can use this command when you change to the bin directory in your Java installation.jabswitch.exe /enable
