Re: notepad won't open. While researching this issue, I found a Microsoft Community post from 2019 that talks about this issue. The poster then found something called WinSeven in her startup programs. It wasn't on another machine, so she disabled it and Notepad worked again. Try searching for optional features and you should be able to turn notepad back on there. Once you do that, there is another command you can perform to try to fix the issue.
