Re: thinking of getting a xBox for my birthday @17The One S is a superior machine in pretty much every respect compared to the original model of the Xbox One, I should know as I own both.For those asking if they can get an Xbox that holds more than 1 TB, you can get the Gears Of War One S that has a 2TB hard drive, a copy of Gears Of War 4 and a customised controller (i.e. it's actually got a tactile design on it from referencing the games, similar to the console's tactile patterns not seen on the standard One S). I own one myself and it's definitely worth the investment if you're looking for a model with more storage. Externals are useful for moving content around though if you end up getting larger games.Hope that helps. As Sightless said, the console does come with a controller with non-rechargeable batteries in the box.If you are going to get one, I would suggest the One S. Picture it like two PCs with different graphics cards in them. They both play exactly the same games. The Xbox One X costs more than double, in exchange for which you basically get sharper visuals. You'll get one controller with non-rechargeable batteries in the box.The Xbox One X is the latest iteration but if you're going to get one, I'd suggest you go for the One S if you don't want/need to capture or watch anything in 4K (though the One X's loading times are improved over the cheaper One S).In terms of Narrator, you can turn it on if you're in the US or UK and it should work by default, support for any other language isn't necessarily guaranteed and there doesn't seem to be a definitive list.As for how you activate it, with this possibly being your first xbox one console, you won't be able to take advantage of loading previous settings from a different device. Otherwise you could've plugged a hard drive in with said settings, and it would've picked your Narrator preferences up form there.You can turn it on though during the setup process, but you might want sighted assistance of an app or similar around just to double check you haven't accidentally broken anything.Should you get a console and need help at setup, create a separate thread or post here as an update and hopefully you'll get assistance.What games were you thinking of starting off with, by the way? If you don't need/want that the 1S (the previous model) may be better and is also cheaper. The 1X has slightly better loading times but the 1S is still completely viable.Narrator reads all of the native programs (store, news feed, settings, etc). To read game menus you would need to use OCR and for that you do need to stream to your computer over your network, however it is easy to do.
