Re: STFC and Win 10

Registry wasn't the problem, at least not for me.  Microsoft might have dropped something obscure from the OS that the game relied on.  As in, some random component that existed in all Windows versions up to 8.1 was left out of Windows 10.  Too bad I haven't had luck with Wine, either.

Re: STFC and Win 10

Maybe it is a registry problem.  A possible solution comes from the link http://betanews.com/2015/10/23/how-to-f … ms-part-2/Here is the suggestion from the article; try launching regedit and navigating to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Windows. Find APPINIT_DLLS and delete everything in it, or failing that the entire key.

I am having the same issue on Windows 10 32 bit.  And the game worked just fine under Windows 8.1 32 bit.

Re: STFC and Win 10

It's a hit and miss situation. It's not a matter of just dependencies. If you can get it to run great, but it won't run on 9 out of 10 64bit machines.

Re: STFC and Win 10

That's odd, because the machine that's running the Windows 10 Home X64 virtual machine has Windows 7 x64 Home Premium as it's host os on an AMD 64-bit quad core, and STFC runs just fine in that environment. Edit: DotNet 2.0 service pack 2, which is one of STFC's required components, has a 64-bit version. Supposedly DotNet 3.5 is built-into Windows 10, which includes 2.0 as well. I went as far as to uninstall this and reinstall it, incase something was corrupted, even attempted to download and run the DotNet 2.0 SP2 redist for x64 machines and blasted thing wouldn't even run.

Re: STFC and Win 10

You can be completely sure that it won't work on anything above xp due to the game being compiled with express c# .net, which doesn't run on 64bit processors.

STFC and Win 10

2016-03-08 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : jsymes via Audiogames-reflector

STFC and Win 10

Hey all. Toying around with a VM of Windows 10 Home to test how well various things work on it, and I'm having a problem getting Star Trek Final Conflict running. It installs correctly, but when I attempt to launch the game, a quick error pops up then disappears about stfc.exe stops responding. I checked problem reports to see if I could figure out what was going on myself, however, all that was listed was that it stopped working, and nothing more informative. Has anybody gotten STFC 1.2 working on Windows 10? Thanks much.
