Re: Sudden hard drive failure

Hi,Nope, can't say I've had this happen. However, hard drives don't last forever. Maybe your hard drive decided it was done?

Re: Sudden hard drive failure

Do you mean that the drive failed, or that Windows got corrupted? I've heard of the latter situation happening on both Windows 8 and 10. But I can't say I've ever heard of actual hard drive failure as a direct result of running the OS.

Sudden hard drive failure

Hello.Have any of you guys running windows 10 had the issue where you shut the lid, the computer shuts down, and your hard drive fails when you try and start it up again. That happened to one of my old machines(6 years owning it, and it was running strong before it happened.)

Re: Sudden hard drive failure

If the hard drive actually failed E.G. it cannot be seen by the computer at all, I suspect shutting the lid had absolutely nothing to do with it, nor did the operating system running or installed on the drive. Much more likely is that the drive would have failed anyway the next time it was powered down, and it's pure coincidence that it happened when you shut the lid.
