The solution to making an image pdf accessible to screen readers is running it through OCR software, which is often commercial.Have read that Google Drive can process OCR, but havent tried it.The second problem may arise where the PDF is locked by DRM.Fortunately solving both issues is easy if you have the unlocking software.I am willing to convert the file, if youll send me a PM. Urgent help with getting a pdf into text Hello all. So yesterday, I downloaded a copy of THE DC UNIVERSE ENCYCLOPEDIA. My vision teachers said they would be more than happy to braille it for me, but one problem: PDF wouldnt work. So I have to convert it. I did some googling and not much came up that looked easy to use. I need to ask, do any of you have the know-how to do it for me or could someone point me in the right direction. Re: Urgent help with getting a pdf into text @ghost riderThank you for your PM.Unfortunately the pdf is of low quality resolution and is therefore unsuitable for OCR processing.Most likely it was scanned from a papercopy source by a sighted person to whom OCR did not matter.I would not waste time on trying to get something sensible from OCR.Even the best OCR cant repair a bad source. Re: Urgent help with getting a pdf into text As far as I know, that wont work under a few circumstances, unless Adobe has changed a lot since I used it for such:1. If the PDF is just a bunch of scanned images with no text, no straight PDF reader can save the text, because theres no text to save. Such a PDF will require some form of OCR.2. Certain types of protected PDFs dont allow themselves to be saved as text. In at least some cases, there are tools/websites to remove the protection.
