Vmware nat port forwarding question, is it even possible?
Hi,So I'll get right into it. Note: I don't need to be nagged at for not using linux, before I even get started. Thanks.I'm not sure if I'm not understanding something here. My idea of nat is that it's simply like a router, not letting things past the host machine unless you specifically tell it to. So here's my scenario.I'm running a windows dedicated server which simply connects to the internet with an IP address. I'm attempting to run an NVDA remote server in a virtual machine, and naturally (or maybe not naturally) setting it to bridged mode results in it disconnecting from the internet, since apparently the dedicated server doesn't have DHCP set up. So I'm trying to simply forward port 6837 to work with the virtual machine while still using the original IP address using NAT, and there is apparently a way. In the vmware folder in program data, I have a file called vmnetnat.conf. Opening this file in not
epad, I have [incomingtcp] and [incomingudp]. Typing the following in both gets me no different than simply setting it to nat (the NVDA remote server is unconnectable).#6837 = 192.168.27.128:6837I'm confused. What am I doing wrong here? I thought this would let me forward ports to outside the host machine? The host machine, by the way, has windows firewall disabled and all ports are open, and in the vm when I use a port checker tool it's telling me that port 6837 is open as well.Any help is greatly appreciated.
