They aren't meant for making games or big apps as a lot are flagged by anti-virus software and some, *looks at AutoIt* are laggy, *looks at blacksquare*. However for making actual scalable applications, a lot of those free BASIC's aren't really viable, and neither is PureBasic or powerBasic, depending on the case. And @29 it's psychology. Reverse psychology, for that matter. I'm no psychologist but if you tell someone, especially someone young, hell even up until like 16, to do something, they *will* want to do the opposite. Why, I don't know, but it certainly does happen. And yeah. I personally never liked people coming in and saying, switch to x language because y, z, oh and because you get extra chocolate, especially when OP is asking for resources on a *different* language. If the topic was, for say, about BGT, and someone provided an actual answer, and at the end of the post said, you might want to look at Python or NoteJS with NPM and _javascript_ as it provides an easier way of doing this I'm fine with. But if all your post consists of is, BGT sucks, use blah because blah, blah, and blah! It annoys me. It’s your option, your choice to make. If you want to spend $80 knowing full well that there are other free options out there, I don’t say better because it’s subjective, go right ahead. I learned a long time ago that by pushing a language on to somebody you just turn them away from it. This holds true especially of the younger age. It has a nice, open sourced, 95 percent accessible IDE, more than I can say for quite a few mainstream languages in that regard. I do not like how PB is only procedural, no classes, only Structures, but I can live with it, and there are even ways around that.I do not think PB is for everything, see games, systems, etc. But I will continue to use it for what I believe it is good for.Meetbag, we heard you. It doesn't give you a good place to get started. Once you get started however, you can fly. I started with variables, moved to console, and slowly started learning more and more. PB's functions, constants, etc are much, much better documented than BGT's could ever wish to be. BGT at least has a pretty clear introductory tutorial which covers most major features of the language, even if it doesn't teach you good programming practices that would be useful in the mainstream.
