Re: Windows 10 Accessibility Update

Hello,You can disable the unnatural pauses in narrator by unchecking the checkbox that says use pauses to determine punctuation Check Box. That way, the speech will be much smoother

Re: Windows 10 Accessibility Update

Hmm, in that case, I stand corrected. I have extremely sensitive ears when it comes to latency however, possibly more than yours. That does make sense though because on my last install of LTSC 1809 speech was way, way more responsive than it was before. In my experience everything now has some sort of lag, it's on rare occasions where I find a program where pressing a button triggers something instantaniusly. When I would turn off the navigation clicks in Mac OS for voiceover, VO suddenly seemed way more laggy than it usually did.One thing I'll be happy to see is Retroarch with built-in NVDA support, or just figure out why voice feedback is so laggy and fix it.

Re: Windows 10 Accessibility Update

Oh, Narrator doesn't really use Sapi in Windows 10 and should be much more responsive than before. It uses the Microsoft one core voices, a different kind of standard. They should work much better with a screen reader, and especially with Narrator. In my experience this is indeed the case, though they do sometimes have unnecessarily long pauses for punctuation marks.

Re: Windows 10 Accessibility Update

Last time I used it, it was a lot less laggy for sure. But it's that specific version of SAPI I think, theirs just a lag to it that bugs me.Narrator on xbox is great, though. I like how I can just go turn on my brother's xbox, press the combo to enable narrator and just sign myself in. Fantastic. Do you know how awesome that would've been during the 360 days?

Re: Windows 10 Accessibility Update

It probably won't ever reach the part where we won't need to download another screen reader, but for basic computer usage, Narrator is absolutely fine these days. I can already see people who don't really use their PC all that often or who use it for just basic tasks sticking to Narrator. It has massively improved in these years.

Wonder if this will be one of the things to push me away from LTSC. Maybe but I doubt it.Imagine if Narrator becomes like voiceover on Mac OS, where you really don't need to download a new screen reader?

These are cool enhancements. Hopefully the update will be available starting May 28. I'm still waiting for a fully accessible Advanced Startup Options menu and Narrator Remote Desktop support. Maybe those will come in 20H9?

Yes, as far as I am aware the may update indeed refers to  Windows  10 version 2004.

Windows 10 Accessibility Update

As reported by [rockpapershotgun]:Marking Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Windows is going to see some improvements for low vision and blind users scheduled for its May update. These improvements include a thicker cursor with custon color, size, and an indicator. Improvements to Narrator aimed at producing more complete sentences with proper pronounciation, and the ability to hear notifications for things like "scan on" and "scan off" as tones instead. Narrator will now also automatically start reading web pages from the top, along with page summaries on demand, and the ability to find out where a link goes before clicking.

Re: Windows 10 accessibility

hi.win-8 has better accessibility than the win-10.but if you want to do the update, you can upgrade.you can do this with NVDA, and narrator. Each time the PC restart, call  narrator to configure the update process.you can have all you have in win-8.apps and content.you don't lose anything in the update process.just check the check box to leave everything.cheers.

Windows 10 accessibility

2016-03-23 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : boy via Audiogames-reflector

Windows 10 accessibility

I've heard that some people on this forum are using Windows 10, so is it accessible with NVDA, and is it better to get a new computer or download it on a windows 8 computer? I think the computer I have is good enough to run Windows 10, I'm just wondering about the accessibility. Also if you download it on a computer running windows 8, does it format your hard drive? I'm only asking all this to prepare before I download Windows 10.
