Re: X-wheel available now as free and abandonware I was able to download and extract the zip file, I put it in an appropriate directory (C:\Program Files\X-Wheel), then ran it, it got to the main menu then appeared to hang. It's just taking these employed guys months or years to finish their projects but as someone trying hard to get several jobs myself, some of them self-employed, I can definitely understand that earning one's living has a much higher priority than developing audiogames. Even if there is some financial income involved in selling them, it's mostly just return of investment, more or less, and from what we've heard from a couple developers in the past, not even that is always full. I see audiogame development in the case of most current developers just as a passionate hobby. Noone can seriously imagine that a developer could live solely on the earnings from their audiogames. Not enough sales can be made to keep a steady income. Even companies like Somethin' Else are involved in many more projects of different kinds than just audiogame development. And look at people like Josh from Draconis or David Greenwood, for instance. It's mostly silence for several years and then they suddenly return out of nowhere with a new glorious boom. Damien, its owner, put his game on his personnal web page to download as abandonware. X-wheel doesn't need now to be registred to play the full version. He also updated the manual to reflect this change. And he removed also the option of sending scores, since the scoreboards are no longer available.
