Re: Accessible Go?

Hello,No, for now the only thing that you can do is getting an accessible goban, that's the name for the board, I have one myself. The thing is, the person who sold me it could get it cause he goes often to Japan, and as far as I know it's the only place where you can find one. It seems very difficult for them to export those, atleast in Europe. And yes it's a really interesting game, I find it even more awesum than chess. But I guess it's a matter of personnal preference. It's not at all like reversi though, when you read the rulls you can think that but when you'll play you'll see, it's another game entirely.

I've also searched for such a version but, no luck; personally I don't understand the game itself; reversi could be kind of similar, probably but... i simply don't know

Not so far, no. At least, none that anyone here seems to know about. This has been asked before.

Accessible Go?

I llove strategy games. When I'm not playing muds, reading books, Etc. my main focus is strategy games.I've recently gotten back into chess, and have been playing a lot of games against AI.I've heard about Go, and the strategical depth involved in the game, and it seems right up my alley. Are there any accessible versions of this game?(There's probably not, which sucks, honestly, but it doesn't hurt to ask.)

Re: accessible go

Amirali Rajan, the developer of such games as A Dark Room, made a Go game, but due to limited interest, he did not pursue making it accessible. I think that he would be interested in this because he takes accessibility seriously.

Re: accessible go

I think part of the problem is actually that go is a pretty obscure game outside japan. the only western (non japanese) person with any knoledge of the game, as far as I know, is Nolan Bushnell, one of the founding fathers of the video game industry.

accessible go

I know it's a longshot, but does anyone know of a version of the game of Go that might be blind accessible? Developping an online version for the RS games platform for instance would not be difficult, but developping an AI would be near impossible.

Re: Ask about accessible "Go"

According to the research I've been doing, Go is actually more challenging than chess, as it has a larger decision tree, and as it is more difficult to create an evaluation of the quality of a given move.

Re: Ask about accessible "Go"

By the way, I found rules that made sense, and lots of discussion showing that Go is in fact a far more challenging game to do well than is chess.  I am researching this to figure out if my skills could be brought up to it as now I'm fascinated.

Re: Ask about accessible "Go"

It's a pure mental game with no element of luck, so I'd say it's equally as challenging as chess. Other than that, GO might have more players since there's so many who play it in the far east.

Re: Ask about accessible "Go"

It wouldn't be too difficult to create an accessible version. Maybe have square buttons with a rough surface for black pieces, and have circular buttons with smooth surfaces for white pieces, then make a board with holes to hold the pieces in place.Clearly the most difficult part of this is making the board to hold the buttons. Another option instead of a regular board would be to buy a pegboard from a hardware store, then find two distinct types of pegs to use for black and white pieces.

I've yet to find rules for the game that I understand, especially around capturing pieces.  I'd be willing to write the game if I could do so.

Ask about accessible "Go"

As mentioned in the subject, I'd like to know whether there are any kinds of accessible "Go" in the market or not. I mean both in original board game style and in form of Audio Game. If anyone knows, please tell me. Thank you.
