@Nina, I admire the ambition, and I will certainly say the more sweets the better . Btw, I realised I made a mistake. The slogan for Basset's liquorice allsorts was "one too many and you might turn Berty," referring to the mascot Berty basset. @Mirage, the first game now has a db page and can be Found here[. It's actually a lot of fun. Most of the sweets involved seemed to be American ones, some of which we have over here like Twix and snickers, though some others like payday were ones I've only heard about in fiction, whilst others like three musketeers were entirely new to me, indeed when I first saw three musketeers I thought it was an enemy .I also admit I did find the first boss a bit too much of a grind, with me doing only about 0.5% damage a hit, but then again I suppose that just shows I should've prepared more and bought more upgrades.

Re: candy search

How about chocolate covered coffee beans which give a speed boost? Actually, whilst we're on the subject of beans, someone did actually make berty bots every flavour beans from the Harry potter series. They didn't quite go as gross as the hp books with earwax and such, but there was I believe a pepper flavour, and one that tasted of tomato soup. Another English staple are Basset's liquorice alsorts, indeed they've been around for at least 120 years, They're apparently available in many countries, according to This article, but if you haven't heard of them I'll try and explain what they are.liquorice, sometimes called lickerish, is a black, chewy, Jelly like substance made from the liquorice  route. Sometimes you get other flavours, but they don't tend to be made of liquorice  and don't have the same taste. liquorice  alsorts, are a number of different liquorice  containing sweets, each about the size of a Jelly baby,  all packaged together, and advertised by the mascot Burty Baset, a little man made of liquorice sweets, indeed some of the alsorts are small black figures of Berty made of liquorice.Other liquorice  allsorts include round yellow or pink sweets with a black bit of licliquorice  in the centre and coconut on the outside which resemble an eyeball (we always called them eyeballs), small flat sandwhiches with the liquorice  on the outside and nougat like white substance sticking them together, a reverse effect with white sugar edges and black liquorice  inside, sometimes done in a three decker version with a yellow centre. then there are what are called Horse drops, which resmemble round, Jellies with sugar crystals on the outside, and finally there are small rectangular cubes made of one half liquorice , one half pink or yellow Nougat. Yee gods, I haen haven't had liquorice  alsorts for ages, and now I want some . Obviously you can't include everything in the game, but one amusing slogan back in the eighties for liquorice  allsorts was "one too many, and you might turn liquorice ", so they could be fun to give a temporary buff if you collected a certain number.

Ah, sorry for not describing them. flying saucers are shaped like two domes stuck together, or a rather flattened sphere made of rice paper with the sherbet powder inside. Around the circumference is a small flattened ridge. Each is around half an inch across, larger than an mnm, about the size of an average square of chocolate. The ridged part is white, however the central domed part that make up the top and bottom of the saucer is usually a bright pastel colour, pink, yellow, light blue or light green. They usually come in clear plastic bags so you can see the sweets inside.Hope this helps.

Ice breakers come packaged in circular plastic boxes about the shape and size of a hockey puck but thinner. There is a catch on the side that you can use to open the top to get at the candy inside. The candy is small, flat and round and shaped like a pill. It is hard and meant to be kept to melt in your mouth as it provides its minty freshness.Certs come packaged in a small plastic box about the shape and size of an identification card, only just a little thicker. It opens up diagonally and upwards in the corner and gives just enough room to safely shake out a cert. The cert itself is similar in shape to the ice breaker, but as small as an nmn mini,, small enough to sit comfortably to sit in the middle of one of your fingers. It is also hard and meant to melt in your mouth over time.Mintos come packaged in a stick much like life savers, and are about the same size. The shape of the candy itself is flat and round, with curved edges, and a slight bulge at the center of either side. This candy can sit comfortably at the center of your thumb while occupying the entire surface. The packaging is tinfoil overlaid with paper like a piece of bubblegum. The candy itself is chewie like a starburst in spite of it having a shell like exterior, and comes in many flavors in addition to mint.I hope that helps. I tried to write this post at least 4 times before, and each time my browser crashed and I lost all that I was writing.

For something cold, why not just go with ice lollies? For something that gives a shock, I'd suggest something with Sherbet powder, also called soda powder, see this wiki page for details, I'd particularly recommend the flying saucers, but that's probably because I rather like them .Btw, note this isn't "sherbet" as in the cold sorbet desert, it's a sweet fizzy powder similar to popping candy. If this is too obscure for people outside England, how about going with pop corn?

Re: candy search

@Nina, I'd found the monster view with shift s, but didn't realise you could look at where different monsters are with it, that certainly helps. As another suggestion, how about chocolate money which adds to your score. You could even have different denominations, EG over here, you could get the gold chocolate coins which are milk chocolate, the silver coins which are white chocolate, and the red/gold ones which are dark chocolate. Another thought I had, is how about rum truffles? I absolutely love truffles myself but in keeping with being truffles, and thus both expensive and alcoholic they could have some interesting mechanics. So, if you get a truffle, you get a complete refill of hp, however you get a temporary decrease in speed due to the drunkenness caused by the alcohol. And just because they are truffles and hard to find, how about them not showing up on scans? So you will only get them by walking over them. This means on some occasions, the hp refill will be a welcome surprise, on others, your indulgence in booze might not help you much . Another thought I had, is if your going with more scooby-doo monsters, how about everytime you kill one, them having a chance of taking off their mask. If you unmask a monster, you then have to defeat them in their human form, however if you beat them as a human, you get some powerups for having solved the mystery, and maybe a monster card too if you've not collected it .

Not heard of that nes game there, but I always loved the kirby games where he could get different powers depending upon the monsters he absorbs, especially Kirby's fun pack aka Kirby's Superstar on the Snes where each monster you absorbed gave you a completely different power set, moves and abilities, some of which you'd need to complete levels, EG only the hammer type monster would let you hammer stakes into the ground, whilst only the sword or boomerang could cut string holding up some platforms. As for Candy Crashers, the game's tactics, with you needing to move away from certain monsters and blast at a distance remind me of tactical battle, though I do wish you could get better info on where monsters are without having to wander the map with your exploration curser.

Re: candy search

I would put candy crasher in the action puzzle category. But tactical is a good description for it also.Seeing this makes me think of the boy and his blob, an early nes game where a boy and his pet blob go on an adventure together.  Feeding the blob different flavor jelly beans turns the blob into different things. For example, tangerine turn the blob into a trampaleen feeding it rootbeer turns it into a rocket, flickering is a ladder, coal is a bubble, and punch is a hole. These things are used to overcome obstacles in the boy's path.As for my favorite candy, I'd have to say recess pieces. Maybe eating them  should shrink you down, since they are like mini peanut butter cups in mnm form, maybe bringing your defense up as well, and making you harder to hit.

Re: candy search

Okay, just played the first game. one feature I'd really like, is the ability to find a monster's position quickly, unless the monster is invisible, since playing tactically is often rather hindered by the fact I need to move the explore cursor around so much, indeed I'm a little surprised that the shift S key for viewing monster status won't identify all monster positions on a level. I just spent an irritatingly long time trying to find a pterodactyl ghost on level 3, and I thought the game had slightly crashed since the only ghost in the status menu was one listed as square -minus one minus one with negative hp, presumably the last one I zapped.Btw, after playing candy crashers' I'm unsure at this point whether to count it as a top down shooter, or a strategy game similar to tactical battle, since whilst you do move around in a top down perspective and blast things, the emphasis seems more based on strategic placement than fast action blasting.

Perhaps it could give a damage or speed boost. Also how about marzipan for a poison attack, what with marzipan tasting like almonds, and a famous poison (arsenic), also reputedly tasting of almonds . Also, as a doctor who fan, how about some jelly babies that let you time travel by freezing monsters. If your not a Doctor who fan you wouldn't get this, but Jelly babies were a favourite sweet of the Doctor in his fourth regeneration as Tom Baker, and of course, as the Doctor is a time traveller, eating his favourite sweets should make you one too .Actually, the more unusual types of sweets you can put in the game, the better, since everyone has heard of snickers, twix and so on, but why not have some different things just for a contrast?
