I'd recommend 20 wolves, 10 archers and 10 warrior.Remember to sometimes rest though. After Shamans,spoolerYou should unlock the ability under the world tab, to send troops to Valhalla.anotherspoiler8 troops, of any type, including mixed types, means a reward. It just needs to be 8 sent.

@titan_of_war, your username aside, homequest is as much about the resource building as the battles, since it's not just a matter of chucking the cheapest possible troops at an enemy, but also having the best troops you can afford, since the higher your battle score and the better you can attack and defend yourselves, the better you can do against the enemy. I can't remember what troops unlocked when you fight the elder shamans, but there are plenty stronger and better able units than warriors in the game, and you want both a good mix of offense and defence. This will mean having the resources to buy them of course, which means investing in more population, more farms, more resource gatherers etc, really Homequest is a very good example of the principle that an army marches on it's stomach .Btw, I finished the game before the Valkyrie update came out, like Darren, I'd love to see more content with the story continued, indeed there was an implication in the log that there was more to come, so I'm personally hoping we'll be getting more armies to fight, territories to conquer and the like soon.

Hi, any tips for armys, rite now i am fighting the elder shamans, and it takes me like 20 mins to get a full army wich is 40. so is there any tips to have a good army, because rite now i'm mostly just recruting waryers because there the cheepest, with wolvs hear and there, and archers bairly, so expensive so yeah.

@137: spoiler warning!You get valkeries by semding troops to valhalla. Its a way to get rid of your weaker units without having to kill them off, and the new units are the strongest im the game that will come once you have offered enough units to Valhalla.

Guys, I think I've found something.Has anyone seen the Valkyries? I know you guys have mentioned healers, but no one here seems to have mentioned Valkyries yet. I, meanwhile, have seen Valkyries but not healers.I do not quite know how valkyries work...spoilerspaceIt says they'll revive a fallen unit, but I'm wondering if 1 might not be enough. Essentially, these valks have 2 attack, consume 0.1 food and revive fallen units.Now, for the final spoiler, how to actually get them, but if you want to find out yourself, I'd suggest playing and seeing.spoilerValkyries are an early unit. They seem to unlock after your first soul well. There is an option in the world tab called send troops to valhalla. If you send, say, 8 wolves, you'll get your first Valkyrie.

Okay just a quick question, beware of spoilage for anyone who hasn't finished the game and defeated the marshland pact. once I defeated the marshland pact, I got a log entry saying "end of version 1.0), however there was another army, absurd knolls, with 500 units to defeat and lore entry listed as a reward. I admit I did cheat a bit, or at least I waited until I had neary twice their army size and then proceeded to masacre them. I got the happy ending sequence, however it mentions a portal being made. I wondered if this meant something new or a different option? but I don't see one. Of course there is the "reset" option in the settings, unless it means that.Even odder, once I defeated the marshland pact, I got two new towns, and indeed one I haven't exploited yet. Am I missing something, or is defeating the 500 unit army really the absolute end at this point in time (for a start I would've assumed they'd have had a more dramatic name). if so, fair enough, the game has been a lot of fun, although I am a wee bit sorry those dragons mentioned in one of the lore entries didn't make an appearance because dragons are cool!

Keep trying, the stuff should come up eventuallly.It's a little annoying tapping on start battle then hoping it does only to find out the other creatures ran away. I think Voiceover should get an alert when this happens so we know to either try again or try anothe army.

So I've sort of hit a dead end. I've been trying to unlock new buildings and units, but all I'm getting are resource battles with armies of 45 or so, with an army size of over 200. I'm still missing a lot of things, like ornaments, mages and the fifth settlement.

@125, Try navigating by heading, if you're talking about the things in treasury. That should require less swipes, as the additional info tells where your income is from.As a suggestion, I would like to see notifications pop up when I'm not in the app for things like the completion or retreat from a battle, soul well ready to harvest, the discovery of new armies and settlements, just things like those that take a significant amount of time.

@Ghaith that because healers and mages counts as 2 army slots, while the Knights counts as 3. So, basically you have 40+40+20+20 to 120On a different note, I finished the game. I am at the last mission which is kind of hard.After the latest update I get a lot of confusing info which makes navigating a bit troublesome. I get like stone +3.8K wood +3.8K and it lists all the resources available. You need to swipe a lot to get to the switch town or hear how much food you're burning. It is only me, or it is a general issue.

Hello, something wierd happened, I had 120 army limit, but when I recruited 40 wolves, 40 archers, and 20 warriors, and 10 healers, which are supposed to be 20.When I check at the top of the screen, it says, 120/120 army, and in the army tab, it says: wounded 0, alive 110.

Actually, the battles are in fact in real time, meaning it progresses without any input from you, but you are given some indicators to what's going on so that you can flee if things start to look bad, else your army will automatically retreat when outnumbered.

I'm loving the new changes, particularly to the treasury which make the resource management parts of the game far easier to deal with, it also doesn't hurt that after getting access to healers, my army has just become super awesome, which makes progressing in the game rather easier.

I've noticed a bug where if you train a lot of army members at once, you don't get told you don't have enough food etc.@BlindJay, the battles aren't in real time, you press the button and let the computer fight, but you'll want to keep an eye or ear on what's going on so you can retreet if needed.My advice would be make a super big army, basicly if the army says 20 20, or 40 40, fill the army right up.

the update for IOS is live in the UK, it's great!The only issue is the town, I think having, for example, houses, cost x amount, you don't have enough, would be nice. So like you're doing right now but on one square instead of two.@necrozma, I didn't think you could copy and paste the save string.

Very cool that the game got posted on applevis, which directly lead to a bunch of new downloads, and a few good reviews. Currently working on the next update, which has a lot of bug fixes, and will continue to add more improvements for voice over & talk back. For example, tapping on job buttons will read how much are assigned and free, also got headings to work for resources, and swiping on a resource will give you a quick overview on how much you have, and how much percent of your storage is full. So things that I've figured out so far. I think the wounded and alive is based on percentage, probably 50 percent or less. The enemy will damaged indiscriminately, since so far my tank is died the less from the others, the  healer will die  most often if you have them, Then followed by the mage and arbalist. You'll retreat if you have less troops than your enemy in that stage, or if your barracks that signify the number of your military personell isn't greater or equal to the size of your enemy. You won't retreat automatically before you kill all of your enemy in the current stage, or got whiped completely.

I think I got to the end of the main campaign, and it's been a fun few days, though it definitely looks like more is coming, and I've still got a bit more to unlock. Haven't scrounged up enough cash yet, but I'll definitely upgrade to support development when I do. Really nice work on the game.Just a minor issue: I believe that one item in the treasury still has its numbers listed out of order. Otherwise, things worked generally well, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing.

brad, soul wells are filled by killing enemies, they go through three stages, which are molding, growing and fruiting. when it's all done you can harvest and get rare resources such as jade, used for heallers.

@flameAlchemist, that's right, i'd really recommend using dystopia if you want to get message notifications, you can go to preferences on old.reddit.com after signing in and find the send message notifications in my browser checkbox and check it and try the little test link, it will say something like it's done! when this feature roles out you can use it, but it is meant to already be working but I don't think it does, reddit can be silly like that sometimes, I'd still try it though just in case.

This game is awesome, planning to buy the gold version soon.In terms of army strategy, not sure if it is that good, but if you can recommend any, it will be appreciated.The units I have are the first three: Wolves, Warriors, and Archers.I tend to always balance them, for instance, 20 of each, in a 60 army cap limit.

I put a well in each settlement and that ensures I have enough resources to recreate healers. Damage calculation is definitely feeling weird and random, but I am fighting against units that can hit multiple targets, so just trying to find the right balance to counter that. Watch your army numbers and run as soon as they start dropping to avoid taking losses.

Since the archers are stronger than the wolves, why not just use archers to ensure that the warriors are the ones taking the hits. Something that jade said a while back stood out to me, and it's that those weaker units are getting killed because there are more of them around. So try skipping out on the wolves now that you have archers, because of their greater attack and hp, and because they only take up 1 unit, you will be able to add as many of them in total as you would with wolves.

@Kenshira, the one thing that mildly confuses me, is if units are attacked directly in order of presentation, I'd assume that the wolves would die first, then the warriors, then the archers, however, when fighting an army of 16 enemy, all twenty of my warriors survived, even though all  the archers and wolves died. yes, obviously the warriors have more hp generally, but I'd still assume if they were higher in priority attack order than the archers, more of them would get killed first.

@78 I believe you are correct on damage order calculation. Since all of my wolves were in front, they are always among the first to die. Indeed everyone does take damage, and the warriors live because they have the hp to sustain themselves, but things will definitely get easier to arrange once you unlock more units. At this point I dont use the wolves anymore, and once the warriors and archers are all gone I might not replace them in the future. I'm curious to know the range of attack for each unit, like if archers are able to target some units from a couple rows back for instance. Also, it would be quite nice to have multiple reserves of army units so that you can send multiple units on separate campaigns, or all on a single campaign, and arrange each group into specific formations.

I totally agree with dark, waiting can get a bit anoying but it is an idal game.The game is a lot easier to work with now but yeah a way to see how many items you have to build or do a thing would be a lot nicer.

I'm just trying the new update, filling up my soul well which I've just unlocked. Wow, assigning workers is so much easier now. I only have two miner access suggestions, the first, which might also help sighted players of the game, is it would be nice to know your total of resources when looking at various costs, to have an idea how close to affording something you are. One weird thing I'm still noticing, is that my so called tank warriors really aren't doing their job, since if I send them into battle, it's always my wolves and archers that die first. I'd be interested to know how enemy damage is calculated and when different units take damage, EG if all units take the same damage in battle, and my warriors live longer simply because they have more hp, then warriors are practically speaking a waste of time, since if all units are dying at the same rate, I might as well take the wolves with their three times attack value, since inevitably my army will always retreat when half of them remain, which always means warriors.I also wondered if units get damaged according to the order they appear, EG first wolves, then warriors then archers, however you'd then assume that archers would be the last units to go since they were behind the warriors, but that doesn't seem to be the case either.Hmmm, maybe I'll experiment with an army of 20 wolves and 20 archers and see how they work out, though I do wish I didn't have to wait so long to rebuild my army between battles.

You need to kill enemies to fill them up. Once it reaches 500, you can infuse the souls, then they will be processed over time and you can later harvest resources from them.

Still would really like to see the summary of resources gained and lost when you reopen the game be put into some kind of dismissable dialog or something. It goes away too quick for me to read it all.As for general game mechanic suggestions, a way to convert or upgrade your units would be super handy, otherwise right now I have to kill off a group if I want to replace it with anything else, and that just makes me feel terrible.

double posting to suggest the addition of headings for the resources page, so you could instantly jump to a resource by using this feature of all screen readers. i don't know if it would be easy to add. it could be simple headings just like on a website.the heading would be in the line of the resource's name.it could also be used in the workers tab to jump to different sections like resources, production and common.

hi! so i've played the android update for 10 minutes and am really impressed with the improvements, it makes gameplay a lot faster even though i didn't have time to test the battles yet.i bought the gold upgrade there as well as a double thank you for listening to us.kenshira, probably it's being read front to back, since the tank units seem to always take the first positions  due to having more hp, so better protection.

The settlements tab now shows which one is currently active. The tabs on the bottom showing which one is selected doesnt bother me because I can tell what tab I'm on from the content on the screen. I'm curious if the units are being read from front to back.

@Jan.cs great job on the accessibility improvements. A few suggestions:1. Both Talkback and Voiceover have a way to indicate which tab is selected. I would recommend adding this to the tabs along the bottom, as well as the tabs in the town, workers and army tabs.2. I would recommend making the worker buttons show as disabled when there is no worker to add or remove from a given type.3. I recommend changing the label of the button labeled X that appears during building or training to Cancel.4. This isn't necessarily an accessibility recommendation, but, when focusing on a building or army unit that you don't have enough resources for, it would be nice to have a timer for when that item will become available.

@jan.cs, thanks for the accessibility considerations, I'm doubly glad I bought the gold version of the game now. I admit myself I haven't played as far in home quest as I normally would've done, mostly due to lots of things coming up at once, but I look forward to seeing more of the game with a friendlier interface that lets me get through battles with less hassle.Once the  update comes through I'll see about adding home quest to our index of accessible games, and if it isn't already on the Ios access site applevis, I'll look at adding it there as well, so hopefully more people will know about and support the game.

The update came through on the android side. Wow, things definitely read better now. The information is much more concise and appropriately spaced, with less need to swipe to obtain it all. There are still a few unlabeled images, but they definitely dont get in the way. Heck we can even read information that wasnt readable before, like how many are wounded and such. Thanks a ton for the update.

sorry for the double post, but i finaly found this bug some people were talking here: the game is simply stuck in the loading screen, it says 0 after loading and looks like theres an image...i really hope i don't lose my save, but i won't unninstal, because i believe the next update might solve it.otherwise i'll start again, i won't mind, because there will be better accessibility.btw, this bug happened when in low power mode on an iphone 8

hmm, i could have killed them with 180, problem is I didn't like to run everytime someone got injured, so decided to use brute force overkill as always, lol.when I had 180 units and damaged a bit of the ogre kingdom I decided to attack someone else which would give a new settlement as a reward, so it was easy to build the other two barracks on the fourth settlement, and I'm going to discover the usefulness of gold soon.as for units, i'm not using warriors and wolves for some time now. only marauders and arbalests, I got a good production of plated armor to help.i'll probably have to start tracking metal to have a good income, because i want to start testing more factories to see their advantage. right now i only have two of them in three settlements

Wow I did it with 180 units. Just got impatient to wait around for enough resources to build another baraks. I am also not bothering to replace the wolves anymore, since everything else is just stronger, and I'm only keeping some of the warriors because they protect the archers. Over time though, I suspect I will have less of those as well as stronger units become available.

kenshira, that's exactly what i'm doing as well, it's a pro tip indeed!i've finaly killed the ogre kingdom with 220 army and finaly unlocked the knight, but i'll still need many resources to train them.the game is consuming my free time!!the next boss will have 300 units and i can't even imagine how harder it'll get.it's so fun, especialy for an offline game

Ok here is a general tip: If you notice your number of army units start to drop, and you are quick to retreat, like within the first few seconds, you will save yourself from taking any permanent losses which would otherwise take you time to rebuild. For this reason, I have taken to waiting on the world screens for major fights that I'm not so sure I can win. Also, this wasn't clear to me before, so I think it's worth mentioning that some of the later units take up more than one slot, but their attack and or health are more in one than that of 2 single units of the same types combined.Performance wise, the game feels much less clunky than other mobile idle vanes I try to play, and I think that's part of the reason why I'm able to get into it so easily.

Otherwise, I'm quite enjoying the game.@57, The time left to train a new unit, at least on android, is just a couple right swipes away after the train button. There is a counter that continues to go up, and when it reaches the appropriate number, it will vanish and you can train again. For example, the number might say something like 2/60, so when the second number reaches 60 you can train again. This is the same counter that exists for building things.
