We set up two phones in 30 minutes and didn't come across that issue.@cj89, 55, unless you're going to be facetiming all the time or streaming youtube on a regular basis on your phone, the SE 2020 should do you well. Nightshade and I both love to listen to stuff together when we rest. We couldn't for a long time come up with a good solution, given my hearing impairment and not wanting to wake children up and the fact that most of our stuff resides on huge bulky harddrives which are all connected to my desktop, located in our living room, not bedroom. The solution? HQ streaming through TT to our phones and wireless keyboards for our PC's. The way we figure it is that bluetooth has delay issues too, so really there's no real tradeoffs here. We dealt with the fact that with the 6s+'s that we had we just had to keep them plugged in through the night if we wanted to listen to anything and ended up falling asleep or whatever. With the new phones we can listen, safely, for at least 12 hours, which will drop you anywhere from 30 to 35 percent, assuming your phone was fully charged when you started. Bard is even more forgiving; 12 hours of streaming audiobooks from the NLS through the bard app only takes the SE down to about 60.Now, obviously the catch here is still and has always been that the more a battery drops, the faster it drops, so once you hit the 30's you can definitely assume your phone is going to start dropping faster, even if it's just on standby. I accidentally forgot to plug mine in yesterday until right before I was going to bed and went from 34 to 24, though that took 12 hours and I honestly can't tell you how many calls I received or other notifications I may have gotten between then and there without looking at them... I can say that I didn't really mess with my phone for most of the day. Charging it however only took about an hour, so no harm done. I was a bit skeptical about wireless charging too, but I found to my surprise that it charges just as well as being plugged in. Closely but not entirely related, I used to see the separate little dongle that Apple sells as an inconvenience; why not just leave the 3.5mm headphone jack alone and stuff? I still don't have an answer to that question and doubt I ever will, but as BT connectivity becomes a go-to for most everyone there had to be a workaround for those who just didn't like BT earbuds and don't feel they meet up to the expectation, and here is where i do believe Apple delivered with its little lightning accessory, letting you both charge and listen at the same time. The battery is nice and the touch id is going much faster now. Also the speaker is better then the one in my 6s and i finally got the voice over haptic feedback. I only had one problem during configuration. When i started it the first time, voice over was starting but had no voice selected. I needed some sighted assistance. I've used the new SE on TT two nights in a row already and streamed constantly two it for about 12 hours each time. Twelve hours of HQ audio and internet connectivity to stream said audio and what have you, brought the battery down to roughly 35 percent from the 100 it started at. On my old 6s+ that battery would be non-existent right now. The delay between devices is also noticeably shorter.I just placed it on the wireless charging station, but I don't think that'll take more than an hour to finish. I left it there for 3 yesterday and it was already at 100. Naturally I didn't check to see how fast it was charging, so I'll be doing that today. One part of me wished I weighted and ordered the SE. What annoys me even more is the no headphone jack thing that apple has been doing awhile. What I will tell people is that unless they know they want what the 11 has to offer, they should go with the SE 2020. Just saying. Re: iPhone SE 2020 edition Right, opened and set up. The dimencions of the se2020 are more like the 7 or 8, meaning if you had a case for a 7 or 8 you could easily use it. The whole process took less than 30 minutes and the only thing that held it up was that I was playing around with the quickstart feature. For sighted users they have it set up to where you can hold your new phone's screen to the old phone's camera, but I never managed to get it aligned properly so gave it up after awhile and just went with the verification code option in the end.Everything else was very straightforward; answer a few prompts, reenter in a few passwords, redo fingerprint for touchID, but even the WiFi setup I've had to do with previous models was unnecessary. Hardest part? Switching out the simcard. Overall? I've had a good day. Re: iPhone SE 2020 edition I'm very proud to still own an iphone 4S and an iPhone SE, first generation. I use my 4S as an iPod now and it still runs beautifully. Heck if I could, I'd still be using that as the phone I carried around every day. Unfortunately, I can't get the big sim cards anymore, and I don't think the 4 even supports 3g. As much as I love it though, my all time favorite design is the iPhone 5. It was just the right amount of thick and thin, and was just the right size too. It reminds me of an actual phone and not a slab of glass, like the new ones do. Personally, I don't care all that much about my devices being super slim. I'd give up some MM just to get rid of that camera bump. And I'll always miss the headphone jack... I'm still not used to that lol. I don't care much about 3d/haptic touch either, because it is most of the time more of a hendrance than anything. I must tap my screen harder than the average person, because when I double tap and hold something, a context menu pops up when all I wanted was the delete button. If Apple ever came out with another 4 inch phone, I'd buy it, even if it didn't have the latest and greatest in it. That most likely won't happen, but if it did, I'd be all for it. I'm currently on the 8, so not much will change for me besides the speed, and I couldn't care less about all this crap the new phones have. I don't need three super duper cameras, edgeless screens, or fancy face ID (which is a pain more than anything now because of all this mask business anyway). My only concern is that this phone isn't 5g enabled. Most big carriers are pushing 5g very aggressively, we're auctioning off frequencies here already and if I get the SE in let's say late 2020, I might be stuck with a non 5g phone for upwards of two years, probably lots more if nothing horrible happens to the phone in the meantime.
