Re: if you want to go to another country, whats your Priority My stance is pretty much the same as An idiot's, - well which is to say my stance is the same as the fellow in post two, though of course I might be an idiot in the other sense too . I like seeing other cultures and experiencing different things in different countries, and if I had the time/money I'd love to travel to pretty much lots of places. One thing I will say, is lots of people in this topic have been very much anti tourist, yet one of the nicest holidays I've had was my couple of weeks in Egypt in 2010, where yes, I basically did all the tourist things, looked at the pyramids, cruised up the Nile, went to an alabaster works, rode a cammel etc, yet at the same time we had an awesome local guide who introduced us to his friends and showed us a lot of the culture out there. So, there are tourists, and tourists, and I don't mind being the none obnoxious kind provided I can actually see a bit of the country and get some of the culture, music food etc, albeit my interests are more in unique things like the pyramids or mountains and waterfalls, than fairly generic touristy things like health spars, bars or the like, hell while I really enjoyed seeing the Lion King on Broadway for a wedding present from my in laws, I would like to go back and have a look at the empire state and the statue of liberty. In terms of countries I'd like to visit, top places for me are more about the history or natural beauty than specific things. My brother for example took a trip to las Vegas with his fiance recently which doesn't interest me at all, on the other hand he also went to iceland which I'd love to visit. Another thing I've noticed, is one cannot make assumptions about a lot of places without going there. Even though the united states is not unlike Britain, I was quite surprised how many small things were different when i was spending a few weeks over there. A good friend of mine regularly tours different parts of europe and some of what he's said about various countries is intriguing. For example Master of death, he really liked Budapest, said the live music and general friendliness of the people was astounding, also recommended tirkish baths. The only places I'd say are %100 off my itinerary, would be obviously places where the country's infrastructure was less stable (I don't like the idea of being jailed or shot at), and secondly that are fairly generic and whose ethos is mostly just about the getting drunk part (while I wouldn't mind visiting spain, I have no interest to do the hole ibiza clubs thing). As to moving countries, well that's a hole different proposition, since while on the one hand England is pretty crappy as far as accepting disability and doing things for blind people goes, on the other hand I know myself how bloody difficult the process of actually changing one's nationality actually is (Mrs. Dark's visa is continuing to be a bureaucratic idiocy). So, while I wouldn't be against the idea, there would have to be some damn good incentive as there was for Mrs. Dark in us getting married, E.G some absolutely perfect job or stage tour or the like.That's one thing I'd say to anyone thinking of emigrating, make bloody sure you have a good reason and know what your doing since its a massive amount of work and trouble. I do not consider myself independent enough for that yet.However, as for visiting, there are a few.Many countries have rich cultures, but I'd really like to go to Japan. I find the whole idea quite unique, and I am guessing there will have to be research done by me, I'll have to try some food as well hopefully there will be stuff out there that I'd like to eat. It's a matter of concern with my parents they are fine with it as long as I can find some food that's eatable for me, or rather, I'd need to be a bit more adventurous.If I were to take a trip there, I hope to do a week of martial arts related things, and a week or so in the modern districts. This way, I hope to be able to compare my findings in both of these areas: what's in the modern districts that may go back to the cultural routes? For instance some arcade games out there are based much more on skill, not money, and apparently this is due to the culture, so I'd like to see that in person. Also, I'd like to go to the Tokyo Disney resort as I've heard about a unique relationship out there whereby Disney is not the actual owner of the resort, so it will have different standards and some more unique attractions to try.Another place I'd like to go to is The Netherlands, specifically two theme parks: Efteling and Toverland. What I like about these places is they have audio soundscapes and soundtracks as you go around them, so I'd love to hear all that in person.I have a serious question, what is Hungary like? I'm a blind person who likes tech, culture, music, and things to do especially if they are either hands on or have lots of sounds to hear, or theme parks, some museums, etc. What stuff is there to do? Re: if you want to go to another country, whats your Priority I'm not sure if the question that's being asked is what you would prioritize when visiting a country, or if you were considering living in a new country, so I'll answer it from both angles.For visiting, I pretty much agree with post 2. Getting to know the culture, and not viewing it through the eyes of a typical tourist, would be an amazing experience. As for if I planned to move to another country, the main thing I would look for is the social support structure. yeah, money is important, but one thing you quickly learn if you're from the US is that we're so spoiled in terms of material things, but when it comes to our relationships, most of us are starving beggars. We have this unhealthy obsession with self-sufficiency which frankly sucks. We have to constantly look over our shoulders and make sure we don't express vulnerability to the wrong person, because it's so easy to get torn down for it. Once my eyes were opened to the fact that there are cultures that aren't like that a few years ago, I've wanted to experience it so badly that I truly wish I could leave. I know that not all of these places are safe, of course. Any smart person research is any risks when traveling to other areas. The thing is, there are so many countries to choose from.
