Re: thinking of getting a capture card for my birthday @7That depends on what console you're using, first of all. With the Xbox One you could have the audio from OBS and the Xbox app open for OCR. With PS4, things become more difficult as remote play, which you could use to OCR the game, then requires you to plug a controller into the PC instead to control the game. That and the delay introduced from doing it that way might make other games less playable.In short, there are ways, but OCR is best avoided at all costs where you can. Although there have been issues with the PCIE alternative, they've been far less frequent. Using Windows 10 by the way if that's of any help.I'm only speaking from experience and I wish you the best of luck setting up with your new equipment.As for OCR, you cannot, from my own testing at least, OCR using the preview in OBS. The only things that OCR are the buttons, as the preview window isn't actually visible to the screen reader itself. It means that you wouldn't need a USB cable from the card to your PC, just an HDMI from your console to the capture card in your PC.As for monitoring, I can confirm that you can, with the right setting up, get audio from the capture card in OBS, thus negating the need for any additional software whilst recording, should you choose to do it that way.As for the HD60, I can't speak to it, only the capture card I use currently, the HD60 pro. I can't speak to USB cards as the previous ones I used were much older models really, but in terms of pricing, the Elgato HD60 pro should be in your price range for PCIE.As for your other questions, OBS will be able to receive the input from the capture card. If you use the game capture software, you should be able to hear the output from the card with no noticeable lag, compared to streaming through the Xbox app. Whether this is directly possible with OBS itself is uncertain (I've not tested it myself) but theory stands to reason that it should be.Hopefully that information is of help.
