Re: what is the easyest programming language to learn as a beginner

As I say to all individuals who ask me this question, there is no such thing as an easy programming language. It's all about putting your determination into it, and saying, "I want to learn this." If you don't have the determination or motivation to learn the language, then you won't get anywhere. In languages though, I'd start by looking up the basic features. Variables, functions, objects, arrays, dictionaries, etc. Then you can dive into the more advanced stuff, menus, loops, timers, etc.Hope this helps.

Re: what is the easyest programming language to learn as a beginner

No, guys. The easiest programming language is Google. It even comes with its own IDE (found here). It even looks like English or your language of choice! It's amazing!Joking aside, I wonder if we could put together a post or a guide of some sort for programming languages? Stuff like this comes up on monthly bases, and I feel like reiteration of the same points won't do us any good. Neither telling people to search, though that's a must if you want to actually do this.

Before we shout Python (which is my recommendation too), shall we at least ask the OP what they want to do when they program? Are you interested in writing games? mobile apps? Web programming? server side?

Re: what is the easyest programming language to learn as a beginner

@5 Because of its distribution versatility and good audio libraries. _javascript_ can run on literally anything as long as its recent. The shift may be put off for a while by Synthizer and other libraries that Camlorn might develop that have Python bindings right out the gate, but I still predict that it will expand greatly in the coming years. It will expand even more if somebody comes up with a way to make security viable.

Re: what is the easyest programming language to learn as a beginner

While there are many different languages, Python is often the most recommended for beginners because its easy to use, versatile, has alot of documentation, and a strong community to help out if needed. When getting started, the first thing you should probably do is start with the core basics, and there are many free books around that can help with that, such as [The Python Practice Book], [Dive Into Python], [Think Python], etc. Once you have the basics down, you can move towards supporting libraries for things like handling key and mouse input, creating windows, playing sounds, tts, etc.Another source you could check out is our own Amerikranian's [Python Guide]. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask and we'll try to help out as best we can.

@4 why is that? I personally like JS as well as Python, but for games it's a bit meh. I just wonder.

Yes, if you're interested in making games with a path of least resistance, Python is the best right now. I predict a hard shift to _javascript_ in the next year, but we'll see.

Earwax is a might complicated for a complete novice. I'd recommend starting out with pygame tutorials or even Lucia. I wouldn't really recommend those until you've actually got a good grasp on Python basics, though, so follow his tutorial links.
