Re: where is the missing 100 years!

I know this wasn't asked, but I thought I'd put that out here in case anyone was wondering...From an answer someone wrote on Quora, there is no -1 or -2020 because using BC and BCE, as well as AD and CE are respectful of various religious backgrounds.

@3Just say that there was no 0 AD and that the 1st century had 99 years and you can avoid any issue.

Re: where is the missing 100 years!

Centuries are 1-indexed, and years are ... also 1-indexed. So 1-99 is not the 0th century. And there is no year 0.This makes the x00 years kinda awkward. If there is no year 0, then 100 must be in the first century just as 1 is. So _technically_, the 22nd century starts in 2101, not 2100. Yet we party like it's 1999 instead of 2000, for some reason.

Re: where is the missing 100 years!

The calendar starts at 1 AD. 100 AD ends the first century. 200 AD ends the 2nd century. And so on. 2000 ends the 20th century. No complex math required.

where is the missing 100 years!

so i only know the basic basics of math, anyway we are in the year 2020 but we are in the 21st century.  how is that. a century is 100 years so we should be in the 20th century, a century covers  from 0 to 99, so we should reach the 21st century in 2099
