Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Digital Active Speakers
I use AVI ADM9.1 digital actives and find them fantastic. Clean effortless and powerful sound and great value. They are the first speakers I've had that I haven't wanted to upgrade. nicholasg wrote: I'm looking to buy a new stereo and want to go all digital as far as possible. All my music is ripped form CDs and served via a Touch and a Duet. I'm thinking to connecting the Touch to a pair of these: - http://www.genelec.com/products/8260a/ The 8260A Smart Active Monitor (SAM) is a masterpiece in electro-acoustic design. It features Genelec's proprietary Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC) driver. The 8260A combines outstanding three-way monitor design with Genelec state of the art AutoCal and Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) control network technologies. GLM allows to automatically align every monitor on the network in terms of level, timing, and equalisation of room response anomalies. Together with the 8260A breakthrough MDC driver design, Genelec MDE and advanced DCW technologies provide accurate imaging and outstanding clarity and definition of the inner details of the music. The 8260A is the most sophisticated monitoring solution for recording studios, post-production houses, digital mastering facilities, radio and TV broadcasting. I may even treat my self to a Transport as well. Anyone have experience of these speakers or the manufacturer in general? This would be my list - Digital input selection buttons on the remote Ability to rename the digital inputs Second Toslink digital input (as it is by far the most common) Ability to act as a server for both local and network files Directly drive any active speaker Quality headphone jack Keep the current display Don't make it look like traditional hi-fi -- Mike69 Mike69's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7507 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69447 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

Crutchfield has a deal right now for 1800 you get a transporter and a squeezebox controller. It is very tempting. I just wish I knew if you can hear a difference in higher sample rate audio. I have tried some of the special event recordings from Blue Coast Records - they sound excellent to me. http://bluecoastrecords.com/ -- Mike69 Mike69's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7507 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63908 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
