 Well, it works for us (http://www.coin3d.org) with a number of large
 and complex C++ libraries. (We're using Libtool v1.3.5, BTW.)

Basically, libtool 1.3.5 only works for C++ on GNU/Linux and,
sometimes, on Solaris with g++ --enable-shared.

C++ Shared Libraries

2000-08-31 Thread Robert Boehne

From what I have read about libtool it cannot
handle C++ shared libs. Is there any work going on
in this area, or should I just do my best with shell
scripting in configure.in?
Anyone have a better answer?

 automake doesn't check for libraries at all. Maybe you meant
 autoconf?

Indeed. Such things happen with increasing uptime. :-) But the question
still remains: Is there a way to check for C++ only libraries other than
trying to link against the mangled symbols?
