Re: [Avogadro-devel] Discourse / Forum Interface

There are multiple packages and I'm open to suggestions. One that seems to pop up a lot recently is Discourse (http://www.discourse.org) which looks pretty slick. The feature set is nice, plus multi-language support (http://v1.discourse.org/about/) The one caveat is that I don't have anywhere to host it (i.e., it uses Postgres, .. Docker). They recommend Digital Ocean, for an extra $10/month.. I know Ubuntu uses Discourse. Any feedback? Advantages or disadvantages? I have played with Discourse, and it looks pretty nice but I haven't really used it seriously in any sense. I wouldn't object to giving it a try, but don't have anywhere I could host it right now either. The Kitware instance of Gerrit will be upgraded at some point, removing the topic branch functionality. Gerrit feels a little heavy/clunky, and I feel like GitHub has come a long way since we made the switch to Gerrit. Geoff gave me a +10 off-list, I will work on clearing the Gerrit backlog, planning to move to GitHub pull requests unless I hear objections. We are looking at a project called GitLab for several Kitware projects that are considering moving from Gerrit (they are also considering GitHub). This may be interesting, but it effectively mirrors much of the functionality of GitHub. Geoff gave me a +10 off-list, I will work on clearing the Gerrit Sorry, I thought that was on-list. Here's the message: We've been using GitHub pull requests for Open Babel and I lurk on a few other projects (i.e., cclib) where it works really well. I think a big advantage is the public visibility on GitHub, both of networks (i.e., contributors) and the pull requests themselves. There's also Travis CI integration for pull requests, so if tests are set up correctly, you can see if there are issues from Travis. -Geoff -- Meet PCI DSS 3.0 Compliance Requirements with EventLog Analyzer Achieve PCI DSS 3.0 Compliant Status with Out-of-the-box PCI DSS Reports Are you Audit-Ready for PCI DSS 3.0 Compliance?
