CCA is the acronym for Centro de Conhecimento dos Acores (Center for
Knowledge of the Azores). They are very, very, very, slowly putting records
online. Sometimes, they seem to put a lot online and then nothing for
months. There is no time line for when or which records appear. We just
play wait and see. I think this project has been going on for at least 7
years that I can remember.

Use Internet Explorer (IE), Safari, Chrome or any other browser except
Mozilla's Firefox to access the web site (Firefox stops working part of the
way through).

RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Vol III, The descendants of Wlllem Vander Haaeghen aka Guilherme da Silveira

2011-03-05 Thread nancy jean baptiste

Greetings Group,

I'm curious if anyone else has been reading this book. Like many of us I
descend from Guilherme and Margarida through 3 of his children due to cousin
marriages so I like to read whatever I can find about the family. This has
information that was new to me and while I do see some definite problems with
some dates that absolutely can't be right my reason for writing now has to do
with an odd wording on page 64. Up until this entry the deaths are stated
deceased but then for D. Luzia de Sousa born around 1619 and executed on
1-31-1669. I found it odd that of all the previous entries this was the first
with that wording. I went to her obit on the CCA site ...it's legible however,
my Portuguese isn't good enough for nuance or any interpretation other than
what I clearly understand. Was she executed or is this just an anomaly in his
writing? CCASao Jorge...Topo obits 1633, page .042 left side.

Thanks for any insight,
Nancy Jean Baptista

Dear Kathy,

I don't know if this will help but I translated the file with Google translate
and it is attached as a word file. It is now only 1.22MB which is about the
size of a picture and in English.

Hope that helps.

I have uploaded Vol III of the history of Flemish people in the Azores by André
Claeys onto the Azores GenWeb site. This book details the descendants of Wlllem
Vander Haaeghen aka Guilherme da Silveira. It can be found here:
http://homepage.mac.com/kmacardoza/Genealogy/Flemish_history.html

If you are interested in these descendants, this could be a valuable resource
for you! As with the other books Mr. Claeys has shared, this is entirely
written in the Dutch language. But, if you are interested, it can be translated
and even searched for names you are interested in.

RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Translation help needed.

2011-03-05 Thread Richard Francis Pimentel
You have done a good job in reading the document. I cannot see any
indication that his parents are from another parish, in fact the document
says natives and residing in the parish. You may just want to look for some
siblings to make sure they agree with this document.

Sometimes you are so intent in looking for a document you overlook what you
are looking for. I would also go back and look some more for the marriage of
the parents. I went back to a roll of film 5 times because I was not
comfortable with the marriage I found and then I found the right one which
was exactly in the year I thought it would be. A name was hyphenated which
made it look like another name.

I am trying to find the marriage record or baptismal records for the parents
of Manoel Silveira Goulart. I have attached his baptismal
record,(Manoel's)from Castelo Branco, Faial. I have looked at the films that
should have the parents marriage baptisms but I am not finding them. I was
wondering if they were born in a different parish or even a different
island. I am not good with translating but can usually figure out of the
parents or grandparents were from a different parish. I was wondering if
someone on the list could help me.

From the baptismal record for Manoel I have that he was baptized on 13 June
1874, Santa Catharina parish in Castelo Branco. He was born on the 9th of
June.

His parents were Jose Silveira Goulart Maria Clementina.

His grandparents were Joaquim Jose Goulart Maria Luiza, Jose Pereira
Pinheiro Maria Clementina.

His Godparents were Manoel Jose Machado his wife Maria Gloria ( a paternal
Aunt).

If anyone could help me with this I would really appreciate it. This is for
a friend of mine.

Thanks,

Sherry

 Hi Eliseu,

Bernardo Pacheco married Ana de Jesus on 21 Jun 1802 (book 12 page 55 right
 entry).

I have a copy of both records if you need them.

As far as I can tell they are not related

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Bernardo Pacheco RIBEIRINHA, S. Miguel

 Hi,

Does anyone have anything on these couples from Ribeirinha/Ribeira Grande,
 S. Miguel:

 -    Bernardo Pacheco married to Ana (Anna) de Jesus may be in
21.JUN.1802 possibly at N. Sra. Da Estrela, Matriz da Ribeira Grande.

 -    Primo Bernardo Pacheco, born in 1805 at Ribeirinha, Ribeira Grande,
 S. Miguel. He married to Maria de Jesus, born in 1806 at Ribeirinha, Ribeira
Grande, S. Miguel, possibly in 13.SEP.1834, at N. Sra. Da Estrela, Matriz da
 Ribeira Grande.

 Thank you in advance,

 eliseu
