Thanks I am talking about their son Mariano Ignacio Medeiros, so if they
were married in 1868 he would of been born after that. I will order the
film and see if I can find his birth.

no, but I can tell you that the approximate birthdate was taken from
the marriage notes of 1866 marriage date to Andreza. He was born, give
or take one year 1842. In the time period after about 1865, the
birthdates of the groom and bride were given. But it depends when the
were born, so that is why it could be 1841, 1842, 1843.

Anyone related to this person, Alvaro de Amorim Borges? He is listed a
godfather to our latest find as working in Customs in Sao Jose, Ponta Delgada
in 1889. There is no godmother listed. I'm beginning to think they picked
whoever was available for godparent(s) at the time.

That is all that I know.

Good Luck. I sure would like to find my paternal grandmother's birth info .

She was born in either 1885 or 1886. But, I don't know which island.

I just wrote a letter to our bishop about starting an archives. Since the
State of Hawaii have records only from certain dates we have to rely on the
churches to get birth and marraige records. I do agree with you they are
not to cooperative and they want to charge by the hour to find a record. I
told one lady if I knew when they got married I wouldn't be asking. They
have a wealth of info which I wish they would share.

Anyone related to this person, Alvaro de Amorim Borges? He is listed a
godfather to our latest find as working in Customs in Sao Jose, Ponta
Delgada in 1889. There is no godmother listed. I'm beginning to think they
picked whoever was available for godparent(s) at the time.

2012-02-25 Thread Pam Santos
Also if you go there and the records aren't there, check with the actual
church. I had them look for a marriage for a relative who married in San
Francisco in 1868 and they said they found none. I wrote to the Church and
they had the original document there, copied it and mailed it to me. I
been trying for two years to get down to Menlo Park, but every time I have
a trip to California they are closed.

What does "Fazer o download do Requerimento completo" mean? I don't
speak/read Portuguese.
I found my grandfather's and greatgrandfather's names, but can't extract the
download. It's
zipped (I can unzip), but I get a message saying the compressed folder is
invalid or corrupted.

Thanks,

Just in case…

Do you know that Câmara da Ribeira Grande (City Hall) has some immigration
records online?

Just go to http://mea.cm-ribeiragrande.pt/index.php?p=p

Choose between:

Fichas de Emigrante (for the 1950’s emigrants) or

Requerimentos séc. XIX (for some XIX century imigrants)

Hope it helps you in some way.
